JUNETEENTH - the holiday marks the day, June 19th, 1865 when the last enslaved people were officially freed - a day to CELEBRATE FREEDOM FOR ALL!! Then and NOW!
Modern observance of Juneteenth is primarily in local celebrations including public readings of the Emancipation Proclamation, singing traditional songs, reading of works by noted African-American writers and prayers.
