π π Sweet Potato Slips π π
Step 1: Cut your sweet potatoes in half and put them in soil or water. Iβve done both methods and they both work, your best method is going to depend on your areas weather conditions.
Step 2: When slips reach about 5 to 10 inches, remove them from the potato at the base and place them in water. I usually do this process in the garage under grow lights, or by window that gets atleast 6-8 hours of sunlight.
Step 3(optional): Once you have a good root system going, plant them in something before putting them outside to establish the roots in soil.
Step 4: Once the last frost has passed, let the ground warm for a couple weeks. Plant the slips as deep as you can only leaving about 4-6 inches above the soil.
*I know a lot of people like to grow sweet potatoes in containers or bags. You can follow the same process and get similar results. I like to grow in the ground because I like to keep things as natural as possible, plus itβs the cheapest way to do it lol.
