We’re proud to be a sponsor of the Red Angus Youth Expo “Reds on Route 66” in Chickasha, OK, 6/11-14! This is a monumental event as it’s the first recognized National Jr Show, something that was just a dream when I (John) was on the National Jr Board over 20 years ago. Best of luck to all participants in OK this week!

It has been a busy couple of weeks at Veto Valley Farms! AI’ing the spring cows and heifers as well as setting up donors for the May flush was on the agenda.
Conventional and IVF donors included family members of the Flo Marie, Crystal, Minola, Copperqueen, and Lakina. The main cowherd includes just as impressive lineup of cow families like Jolene, Tidy Bee, Minola, Georgina, Tilly, Lakina, and Blockanna to name a few. Sires include proven mainstays, new additions, and exciting outcross bulls.
Reach out to us to discuss these matings or just talk about red cows!

Introducing VETO Keystone, a rising star at VVF!
This 9/22 KJL/CLZB Complete 7000E son of our “leading lady” Feddes Lakina D6 is a powerful, high-growth, sound stud that’s one we’ve watched since an early age. He’s good-footed and deep-sided with 7 traits in the single digit percentiles along with 10 in the top 1/3 of the breed.
He’s impressive on foot and on paper!
His lone flush mate sister, VETO Lakina 912K has been an attention getter her whole life and undoubtedly will follow her dam and maternal sisters to donor status. Their 3 flush mate brothers avg $7000 in the Feb Ludvigson Big Sky Bull Sale, where one was the co top seller.
We’re excited about the future of these two attractive, high-performance siblings!

Introducing the newest addition to our herd sire lineup... LSF PDC Prime Day 3540L!
A 1/23 Wedel Prime Time X 5L Independence bred stud from the famed Abigrace family. He has 10 traits in the single digit percentiles including top 1% GM, YW, ADG, MB, $P, and FERT.
He’s moderate, deep-sided, and good-footed. After a short stay at our partners, Schlesser Farms in Iowa, he’s off to Hawkeye Breeders Service to be collected. We look forward to adding these new genetics to the VVF herd in the fall!

A big day for VVF is coming up in Big Sky Country this Saturday (4/13) at the Ludvigson Stock Farms Spring Herdbuilder Bull Sale in Park City, MT.
The first offering of yearling sons of the $120,000 LSF BJR High Voltage 1803J from our signature donor Feddes Lakina D6 are part of the lineup. They’re loaded with performance as well as top of the breed HPG, CEM, and ST.
A LBW, high $, Ranch DUFF Red Blood son and the famed Georgina family from black lineage is another VVF highlight.
The EZ Factor sons are making a splash again after they averaged just under $6,000 in the February Big Sky Bull Sale. Two LBW, high growth featured EZ sons have caused a stir — one is the highest $ Profit one of the sale. They both rank in the top 1% for $Profit, $ Ranch, and FERT. They both go back to the deceased, foundation donor Minola X0427 as well.
Another EZ is a grandson of our signature donor Lakina D6 and ranks in the top 8% $ Ranch and 11% MB.
The first son of our newest herd sire Chief Executive also sells.
What a record-breaking day we had at the Southeast Red Angus Association Grasstime Sale over the weekend! The sale average for 141 lots was $3,335, with a $10,500 high seller!
It's hard to put into words just how appreciative we are for the interest in VVF. Our 6 lots averaged just over $6,000, including both the high-selling bull and female. They sold to new and repeat customers into four states. Special thanks to repeat customers Mackenzie Enderle of Enderle Cattle Co. and Rob Brody for picking up the high seller of the day, VETO Minola 903K, and to Watkins Red Angus (FL) picking up VETO Kenworth as the high-selling bull.
Cullman is always a great event for us to showcase our cattle, see old friends, and meet new ones.
The Ludvigson Stock Farms Herdbuilder Bull Sale is coming up on 4/13, then weaning the fall calves, spring flushes, and breeding. There’s always something going on at VVF. Give us a call anytime to talk red cows!

Tomorrow is the day! The 33rd Southeast Red Angus Association Grasstime Sale kicks off at Noon CT in Cullman, AL. In the meantime, if you have any questions about our offering, contact John Carter: (931) 703-0090.
Our last (but certainly not least!) featured highlight of the 33rd Annual Southeast Red Angus Association Grasstime Sale is Lot 24, VETO Minola 903K. She's one of the best we have offered in Cullman, AL to date!
A true front pasture female, 903 is a 9/22 LSF President daughter whose dam is a 106 MPPA maternal sister to the breed legend LSF Saga. Her breed leading data of 11 traits in the top 1/3 of the breed and 4 in the single digits are only bested by her outstanding eye appeal, overall mass, and performance. A true donor prospect that covers all the bases, she’s one we hate to see go!
Making her even more enticing is she’s carrying a heifer sired by the $90,000 Berwald Confidant 2044 at ABS! Our first Confidant calves are on the ground and “growing like weeds.”
We can’t say enough good things about 903 here, gives us a call to discuss her or any of the rest of our offering!
Our other fall bred stock market heifer consignment to the Southeast Red Angus Association Grasstime Sale on 4/6 is Lot 26, VETO Tidy Bee 0K1!
Her MGD is the now deceased 108 MPPA SRN Tidy Bee 2066 that was a maternal sister to breed legend BJR JR 107. Her 102 MPPA C-T Grand Statement dam is still working as a 9-year-old, plus she’s safe in calf to the $120,000 LSF BJR High Voltage 1803J.
True cow power carrying a cutting edge calf. Give us a call to discuss her and how much we treasure the Tidy Bees!

Veto Valley Farms builds on a long history in the Red Angus breed dating back to the first female purchase in 1992.
We are based on 1,100 owned and 600 leased acres in south central Tennessee near Fayetteville and north central Alabama near Elkmont. The partnership that makes up Veto Valley consists of long-time family friends; John Carter, Scott Davis and Ray Davis. John's experience in the Red Angus breed, Scott's business skills and Ray's pasture management knowledge combine to form a strong alliance working towards a common goal.
John’s family purchased his first two Red Angus show heifers in 1992, which was just the beginning of a long-standing tenure in the breed. One of those heifers, purchased from Whitley Red Angus, went on to produce the Junior National Reserve Champion Heifer, as well as Champion Bred and Owned Heifer at the National Western Stock Show. In addition to showing, John was very active in the National Junior Red Angus Association, serving as President in 2001-2002. After college, he returned to Fayetteville and took over management of a new Red Angus herd, Hickory Hill Farm. Through the ten years of his management, a top cowherd was developed, strong partnerships were made and multiple top sellers and show winners were produced.
After a successful career as CEO of a medical device company, Scott was ready to come home and join his dad, Ray, on the family farm. Adding a purebred sector to the family’s commercial cattle operation was a natural fit to the 150 head commercial SimAngus and Angus/Charolais cowherd Ray had in place. These commercial females are the base for the current recipient cowherd.
In late 2016, the opportunity arose to purchase the Hickory Hill Farm (HHFF) cowherd and embryo inventory in its entirety. On January 30, 2017, the 380 head of cows, calves, and herdbulls were moved to their new home at Veto Valley. There, along with a large group of heifers which had been purchased from Whitley Red Angus and Bull Hill Ranch, they formed the foundation of Veto Valley Farm.
With over 100 embryos implanted in 2017, our 2020 plan will be to expand the recipient herd to 180 SimAngus females, along with a purebred nucleus of 120 Red Angus females and 50 purebred Red Angus cows used exclusively to produce F1 SimAngus females for our own recip herd.
