Should I have tipped more?

I always thought I was a decent tipper. I always leave the highest tip of the three suggested tips at checkout. I never order from far away, and I never order huge amounts of food.

I just received this from my Dasher. It's a first for me. The store is 4.1 miles from me, and I tipped $8 on a $30 order. I don't know why he is saying 12 miles. There is only one of these restaurants in the area, so I couldn't have ordered from a further one by mistake.

Did I tip low enough to receive this? Also, my name is a very feminine name. Could he have copied and pasted this message to all his orders?

I think people who don’t tip are kinda a lost cause cause they get off on screwing other people over. This is more for the folks out there who tip 20%ish something that in a restaurant setting would be a good tip.

Door Dash base pay is $2, and even if this person tipped 20% (let’s say $4) this order simply would not be worth doing. Not after you count fuel costs, vehicle wear and tear, round trip drive time (about 30 minutes for this order) and restaurant wait time (usually about 10-15 minutes at this location)

That’s nearly an hours worth of work for less than $6. No one in their right mind would do that.

When drivers say they don’t take no tip orders it isn’t personal or greedy it’s just business. They are not profitable and in many cases would be a net loss for the driver.

I don’t blame y’all for feeling tilted after tipping 25% and paying all the random fees Door Dash charges and still being told it isn’t enough.

But it simply isn’t. Not your fault, or your drivers per se, just lots of people getting screwed all around.

So I’m assuming there was a big change for a lot of zones to the rating system? Days of riding 2-10% AR and keeping Plat are gone.. It was going to be impossible to get even 30% in my area, but did that stop me? Nope! Had to bust out a little “glitch” in the settings (that I won’t be sharing for fear of them “patching”) so I could avoid tanking my AR to pass up those juicy amazing 6$ for 13 mile into the middle of nowhere orders. How’s everyone else doing since the change?

Why is the end total double the order itself. This is why customers choose not to tip so much, this is why people who are just tired from working all day and can’t muster up the strength to cook or get in the car to me up flat broke. The prices are already higher for the same meal while getting less than you would in store, some of these items would be combos in store so why gouge and then add more? This has to stop!!! It won’t stop until everyone stops using these services and goes back to normal scheduled programming.

Mind you, the original price for this item is $50 at the actual restaurant. Them already up charging the food ON TOP OF the insane fees. Idk I didn’t used to really care about ordering DD but now I just can’t justify spending the is amount for lukewarm food that you waited an hour for.

ALSO, I have never ever had a service fee this high.. why on earth would the SERVICE fee be higher because my food costs more? That has nothing to do with DD’s service. Then taxes, delivery and tip. I just can’t.. I had already severely cut back on ordering DD to once every blue moon but now I think I’m done for good. I’d rather eat sleep for dinner.
