Why do we pasture raise our chickens?? Besides the ethical considerations, there’s so many health reasons!!
A healthier fat profile. The varied diet of insects, seeds, and grass that chickens consume on pasture leads to a healthier balance of fats. Studies have found that pasture-raised chicken can contain significantly less total fat and less saturated fat than conventional chicken.
Higher in omega-3 fatty acids. Pasture-raised meat is generally richer in omega-3s, which are essential for heart and brain health and help reduce inflammation. Factory farmed chickens, primarily fed grains, produce meat with higher levels of inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids.
More vitamins and antioxidants. Exposure to sunlight and a diverse diet increases the nutrient content of pasture-raised chickens. Their meat contains higher levels of vitamins A, D, and E, as well as other antioxidants.
No antibiotics. Since pasture-raised chickens live in less crowded, low-stress environments, they are healthier and don't require the routine use of antibiotics. This helps reduce the risk of contributing to antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
