We invite you to spend a transformative day in nature at our Thrive Pride Trans Week workshops on the 24th and 26th. Thrive Pride (in partnership with Campit) guides and supports transgender and gender-fluid folx in self-discovery, healing, and finding your path forward. You can expect meditation, therapeutic art, and listening to horses as you explore your own personal “Thrive Story". Attend whichever day works best for you, or join us for both!

Registration is just $15, but cost-free attendance is available for those who need it.

Presented by Campit and Red Horse Center with support from West Shore Aware, Allegan County Community Foundation, and Douglas UCC.

We hope you're all having a safe and happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈

We thought we'd take a moment in the midst of all of this Pride Month hullabaloo to share a bit about why LGBTQ+ Allyship is a visible part of Red Horse Center.

As our Allyship has grown in presence, in our programs, and overall community outreach, we have learned how it connects and represents an overall sense of community and support.

It's a reflection of Red Horse Values, including who we are and where we are.

In our historically relevant LGBTQ+ community, we feel it's important to understand what it looks like to support all community members. That includes making sure those who face bigotry and exclusion see many consistent cues that they are welcome and safe.

We have met and connected with so many people as a result.

Allyship is a universal approach to expressing cues of safety to those around us. The current socio-political climate has made it more important than ever. We believe the same lessons and approaches apply to all & different groups of people, especially those who have been oppressed or marginalized. Like being trauma-informed, it's a mindset and a way of being.

Our strong, visible focus on LGBTQ+ Allyship is based on our relationships, partners, and neighbors. It's an essential part of our community makeup, and we've found that our trauma-informed services, working with horses, dogs, art, and nature, are a good fit for holding space and offering opportunities that are meaningful and helpful to the community.

We have Allyship Trainings on June 11th and 25th, and Thrive Pride for Trans Week with Campit on June 24th and 26th. More Thrive Prides in July, August, and September.

Hope to see you soon!

Happy Pride! 🌈 ☮️ 🐴

Happy Pride Month, everyone! 🌈

Celebrate Pride month with us this Thursday at the Red Horse Center for Collaborative Leadership as we host an essential part of our Allyship Series: Becoming an LGBTQ+ Ally.

This in-person workshop, presented by Erin Bissonette, is designed to actively engage participants in understanding and supporting the LGBTQ+ community. You'll learn practical ways to foster inclusion and build relationships that cultivate trust and connection. Already an ally? You can still embrace this chance to share ideas, learn from others, and work together in creating positive community impact!

We are wrapping up our Horses for Mental Health Spring Support Drive with Zoetis Equine.

While I started working on the wrap-up, I got an email and text from our Vet, Dr. Mahar, of Mac's Landing Veterinary Services with this video.

We really lean into the NPR model of fundraising, and work to wrap things up, and lean into gratitude as we end a "pledge drive," so we can return our listeners to regularly scheduled programming.

However, I think we'll make an exception tonight, as it still includes a heaping serving of gratitude, but also a compelling reminder that Herd Support is a year-round effort.

We met Mac's Landing in 2007, and the entire team has been instrumental in our herd's health and our growth as caretakers. All the way through the team, they show compassion, care, and expertise.

We're so grateful they're in our herd, and Dr. Mahar sharing her support through this video means a lot. Our HMH page will be taking donations through the end of the week, and our Herd Support page, which invites you to sponsor any horse or the whole herd, is up year-round.

Whether you give with dollars or rooting interest, now or later - your support helps our herd help others.

We'll be back with more thanks and details from an amazing support drive.

Thanks to our team of volunteers, animals and supporters.

And THANK YOU, MAC'S LANDING!

We are so moved by your support that comes in so many ways. Our herd has so many friends and relationships, from far and near.

They get to visit with and share energy with different people every day, who come to muck, connect, and support - no matter the weather.

We just received a Herd Sponsorship donation to sponsor Freya for 2026. This direct support for the herd is essential to us, as spring and summer bring significant hurdles to providing care. We are so grateful.

Each of the horses brings unique energy, personality, and gifts to the circle. When we met Freya, she didn't have much reason to believe there was a circle, a herd with belonging, unconditional love, and acceptance.

Freya's story is deep, messy, and imperfect. It includes heartbreaking trauma and endearing triumph. While she has found her path to thriving, we have learned from her. She has deepened our awareness of connection, communication, consent, and empathy, and we are forever changed.

Thank you, Julie, for being there -- for her and with her. 🐴 ♥️

Today's update brings our Horses for Mental Health Spring Support total to just under $28,000, with a few days left.

We are incredibly moved by your support.

If you missed out on the auction at our Porch Party this month (or regret not placing a bid on something), you have another opportunity with the Second Chance Auction! This includes items that remain from the Porch Party-- like the Winter Weekend Getaway at Old Pike Cottages-- and some new ones thrown in for good measure. Additionally, we still have gorgeous art from Saugatuck Douglas Art Club members available for purchase through our Art Gallery. All proceeds benefit our Horses for Mental Health Spring Support Drive at Red Horse Center and help us reach our Mental Health Awareness Month fundraising goal by the rapidly approaching end of May!

If you did attend the Porch Party, we would really appreciate your feedback so that we can make future parties the best experiences possible.

Visit Redhorse.red/porch to find links to the Porch Party feedback survey, Second Chance Auction, and Art Gallery!

Join us on Saturday, June 6, as we celebrate the 7th Annual Saugatuck–Douglas CommUNITY PRIDE Week, and visit our booth at PRIDE in the Park at Douglas’s Beery Field, where we'll be doing Collaborative Art. The celebration features refreshments, local business vendors, and dancing to iconic 80s hits performed live by Chicago bands Sixteen Candles and Hello Weekend.

Whether you are part of the LGBTQIA+ community or an ally, everybody is welcome at CommUNITY PRIDE events. It's a joyful reminder that all people, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression, deserve to feel seen, safe, valued, included, celebrated, equal, and proud.
