It has been exciting to welcome different groups to retreats, especially overnight guests in our new space at Juniper's Retreat House. We have a couple of meaningful groups on the immediate horizon and have started booking into Summer 2027.

We've learned that the retreat space process has a long calendar view, so booking well in advance is pretty standard. Since this space is newer, it'd be good for ya'll to know that we have openings in the fall!

From 2 to 25 people, we have space to accommodate your group rental, team retreat, or personal getaway.

With opportunities to add herd visits, equine-assisted workshops, herd meditations, meal packages, and more, you can create the perfect restorative retreat for you and yours.

🌷Welcome to Juniper's Retreat House!🌷

This building is named for Juniper, our herd matriarch, and all of the Junipers in the world. Our Juniper is a 30-year-old mare, also known as "Big Medicine." She connects deeply, generously offering wordless connection that helps people slow down, regulate, heal, and find peace.

Juniper's House is a beautiful space that serves wonderfully for retreats and gatherings, small and large (around 20 people for day visits and 8-12 for overnight stays). And, of course, it's surrounded by a peaceful 20-acre horse farm, on a hill overlooking some of our herd pastures. (If you time your visit well, you could also be here to see the native wildflower meadow planted in front of Juniper's house in full bloom.) We envision people finding their own peace, strength and healing here while connecting with our herd, the land, each other, and themselves.

If they would like, guests can arrange in advance for facilitated experiences offered by Red Horse during their visit, like one of our Herd Meditations. Learn more and reserve this space for your own gathering at https://redhorse.red/site-rental/.

Keep an eye on the sky later tonight! Tonight’s Sturgeon Moon marks the official transition from summer to autumn. Historically, this full moon is a natural cue to hit pause, breathe, and appreciate everything built over the summer months.

Lately, we’ve been doing exactly that here at Red Horse Center. Between evaluating our programs and keeping the herd happy, healthy, and thriving out in the pasture all summer long, we are leaning into that grounded, transitional energy. 🐎🌾

We are using this pause to mindfully gear up for a busy, impactful autumn—including our upcoming Fall Support Drive!

Take a moment tonight to look up, celebrate your own hard work this summer, and get ready to grow with us this fall. 🍁✨️

At our August Herd Meditation, we reflected on the theme of nature and change—making space for grief over the devastating effects of recent wildfires in Michigan and beyond, while also sharing gratitude for all that nature continues to offer us, both big and small: a passing breeze, the many species of trees and flowers, and the animals we love. We followed Joanna Macy's four step process for healing, as pictured.

Herd Meditations offer us a chance to slow down and reflect together in the presence of nature and community. Join us at our next Herd Meditation on Friday, September 4th, from 4-6pm if you'd like a quiet moment among horses and friends.

Registration is optional but appreciated! You can register on the Red Horse events page.

Fred and Ulla attended the annual picnic with many other Allegan based non-profits!

The event space was lovely A Cut Above Event Center, the food was excellent (who catered?), and connecting with other non-profit leaders and staff is always so good!!

Thank you Allegan County Community Foundation!
