I wasn't ready entirely for their arrival but I pulled through.

The truth is my farm is a mess. We have been so blessed with infrastructure grants that I feel like I've been tumbling head over heels with no gymnastic training!

A few days ago I just decided to embrace where I'm at in life. With my business, with my farm, with my life. It's messy right now. It's been messy for many years.

But in the end the product that I have envisioned for 20 years, well, maybe not the precise end product because I've only ever had an overarching goal, it all came together. And it's so growing.

They bought soap, they asked questions, they saw the Willow, they asked about my sheep. Awonder was a hit, leaning in and loving the strangers affection.

Hosting people on my farm is a exercise and stretching my comfort zone. I absolutely want people here, and I'm terrified every time.

And I really want to encourage people to truly grow where they're planted because every Farm, every fleece, every feather has a story. We all start somewhere, and we all have different resources with which to invest in our intangible dreams.

And here's mine, not complete, very messy, yet still one of the most beautiful things I have done.

The products on this table were made in collaboration with other wonderful shepards.

Nine Lives Ranch tanned my sheepskins here locally and Whatcom County.

Beth Lanning milled my fleece's into beautiful roving, yarn, and more.

Northwest Yarns & Mercantile brought the people in by bus to visit many of the amazing fiber farms in Whatcom and Skagit counties.

Legacy Lamb continues to be a shepherding peer and mentor in ways that encourage me to keep at life, through the thick and thin of it.

Link Land & Livestock for shearing assistance in the in-between main shears

Pony Jacobson our fall shearer when our flock grew to big for our first shearer.

My community, who continue to ask, show up and purchase our farm products.

And everyone else who has made this dream possible!

Thank you all for embracing the chaos and watering me as I continue growing, right where I'm planted!

Rabbit Butchering Workshop Wednesday, September 9th, 6-8pm

Pasture-Raised Meat Rabbits • From Field to Table

Come learn the full process of raising and processing meat rabbits right here on the farm.

In this hands-on workshop, we’ll talk about how we raise our rabbits, what makes a good meat rabbit, feeding and housing considerations, and the practical realities of producing meat on a small scale.

Then we’ll move into processing, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn the steps involved in humanely harvesting, skinning, cleaning, and preparing a rabbit for the freezer.

Want to take some home? Workshop participants will have the opportunity to purchase their own pasture-raised rabbit for $8/lb to process and bring home.

This workshop is designed for homesteaders, small-scale farmers, and anyone interested in producing more of their own food. You’ll leave with practical knowledge and hands-on experience you can take home and apply to raising meat rabbits in your own backyard.

Come learn how a small pasture, a few rabbits, and a willingness to get your hands dirty can become a sustainable source of homegrown meat.

Duck eggs are slowing down a bit lately as we make some upgrades to their environment here at Hedgerow Willows flock & farm.

Did you know ducks are creatures of HABIT? They really don’t appreciate us changing things up.

Same food. Same time. Same person. Preferably the same clothes. And definitely the same spot!

Okay, point is… WE ARE SELLING OUT OF DUCK EGGS! 🎉

Thank you all so much for supporting our little flock.

Last year, we added 10 ducks, bringing our flock to 20 ladies providing you with delicious duck eggs. And now we’re considering doubling the flock again!

We have about 3 weeks to solidify our plans…

So, tell us: Would y’all like MORE DUCK EGGS?

Drop a 🦆 in the comments if you’d love to see more duck eggs from Hedgerow Willows!

Meet Eddie, a finnsheep ram that we acquired last year from Tripple L Farm when they shut down their operation.

He's such a handsome finnsheep ram with a strong top line and nice meaty body. He has a high luster fleece, and fairly soft hand.

His only downside is that he's very white, and I really love colored fleece.

In this industry Rams come and go quite quickly.

We will be using him to cover 4 ewes this breeding season and then he will be looking for new pastures.

Please feel free to make contact should you have an interest in this handsome finnsheep ram, who originates from excellent quality breeding lines. Check out his pedigree! Reg. #36306 at finnsheep breeders association!

It's super hot out and I'm feeling pretty beat. But hey, about a week back, this huge package showed up! I totally bought it for the farm late one night, and I'm finally getting a chance to crack it open!

Can I just say how tickled I am that I was given a hat that says," make mucking fun again"

And absolutely yes please. I basically just bought a giant dustpan on Wheels for cleaning up the finnsheep area in the summer and the rabbit area that we're building. Instead of lifting and dumping into a wheelbarrow or digging holes by accident with the tractor, I'm going to use a blower and make a big pile and a garden rake. I'm so excited..

Thank you Rustic Farms Rescue for making a product that looks like it's going to be amazing.

I'll attempt to make a video sometime soon.

For now, enjoy the hat. #

Blackberry Picking? No, finnsheep snacking!

Fish, one of our sweet Finnsheep ewes, is helping herself to a newfound favorite summer treat—blackberries!

One of the things I love most about Finnsheep is their curious, gentle personalities. They're always happy to investigate a new place (especially if there are tasty snacks involved!).

I'm excited to share that Hedgerow Willows Flock & Farm is now mobile! That means you can enjoy Fish and her flockmates both here on the farm or at your own event. Whether it's a school, birthday, community gathering, or farm-themed celebration, we'd love to bring the sheep to you.

There's something special about slowing down, meeting a sheep, asking questions, and connecting with where our fiber and food come from. We'd love to share that experience with you.

Send us a message to book a visit—we can't wait to introduce you to Fish and the rest of the flock!

Check out these amazing hides!

One of the realities of being a livestock breeder is that not every animal will meet our breeding goals.

So what happens to those animals?

We aren't in the business of keeping pets or collecting animals. We live by the philosophy: **"Breed the best, eat the rest."**

That means doing our best to honor every life we raise by using as much of the animal as possible. From nourishing our family with meat to preserving beautiful hides, we believe stewardship means making sure nothing goes to waste.

These stunning sheep hides were tanned by my talented friend over at Nine Lives Ranch, and she does incredible work. It's rewarding to see another part of these animals' story preserved and appreciated for years to come.

The will be available in our sheep shop and at the Blue Room for mini folk fest tomorrow!

Supporting local farms means supporting thoughtful, whole-animal agriculture. ❤️🐑

We recently upgraded our business insurance to cover petting experiences! So of course the first thing we do is head to a summer camp and share the joy of sheep with others!

Did you know finnsheep are naturally easy going? They are the perfect sheep for small homesteads, young children and families new to sheep, older folks, and really anyone who wants to have lap sheep.

We also brought Dexter, our English lop who thoroughly enjoys the attention of a hoard of kids.

Are you interested in bringing a small farm experience directly to your backyard space or perhaps to your upcoming event? We are excited about the possibility of including you in our schedule for this unique opportunity. Please take a moment to visit our website where you can find more details on our small animal experiences!

I partnered with a local property owner and I'm putting in fencing out at their place. In exchange I get to raise my lambs destined for the freezer on her beautiful 8 acre pasture.

I am so excited to have lovely grass for the coming years for my sheep to graze.

One of the side effects of breeding sheep is that you end up with ones that don't meet breed specification, or your breeding programs needs. Sometimes these get sold to other people, but for our farm they end up being our meat shares.

This season we have meat shares for certain, and a few others that we are going to watch how they grow and make decisions on later.

Did you know that finnsheep are a triple purpose breed? They are often raised for milk and wool and meat.

Here at Hedgerow Willows our primary purpose for our sheep is fiber and dairy. But when you're breeding you "keep the best and you eat the rest."

Finnsheep produce year-round and you can often have lamb meat at all times of the year because of this. It makes them an excellent homestead sheep.

They have a high prolificacy rate, meaning they will regularly have triplets, quads, or even quints and successfully raise them all.

Finnsheep meat has a mild flavor making it highly prized for chefs and consumers who desire a more subtle flavor to their lamb.

They have a decent meat yield despite being smaller. They're also finer b***d and have a decent meat to bone ratio.

Thin sheep also tend to be naturally lower in intramuscular fat which contributes to a little bit leaner meat.

We currently have 5 lambshares available on our website at hedgerowillows.com. The reservation fee is $250. This secures your butcher spot.

We currently have butcher dates set for October 20th-27th.

Once you have secured your lambshare with our farm, we will walk you through the process of working with our local butcher, Lynden Meats!

Each lamb share deposit also comes with 10% off of their finished fleece or hide if you choose.

Reserve your lamb share today!
