Harris Legacy Farms

Harris Legacy Farms Family of four raising and cooking our own food on a small Pacific Northwest farm. Give it a shot, and learn as you go.

In any given year we might be enjoying Mangalitsa pork, American Wagyu beef, heritage turkeys, chickens, and lamb. The Harris family is a typical American story: we spend our days working, hanging out with friends, raising a family, and squeezing as much out of every day as we can. And like many people today, we often wonder what we can do to make the world a better place, both now and in the futu

re. While there are a lot of things in the world we might feel powerless about, we’ve realized that one family can have a positive impact by being conscious about everyday choices. So, we do our best to align our lifestyle with our core values, by growing our own food, making time to be outdoors, and sharing our love of the land with those around us. It's not always perfect or pretty, but it is a constant adventure, and there’s nothing more rewarding. The experience of growing and harvesting our own food is incredibly rewarding, and as it brings us closer to the land it also inspires us to help others adopt a similar lifestyle. Over the years, we've discovered that even the smallest changes can help make a contribution to a better future. The food we raise and the stories we share are all driven by a few simple values:
-Respect for the Natural World: Stepping back watch to nature take its course can be amazing, humbling, and educational.
-Honoring the Past: Progress and adaptation are essential, but must build upon the wisdom and experience of those who came before us.
-Conscious Indulgence: Appreciate real food. Invest more for the good stuff, and focus on quality over quantity.
-Laughter and Adventure: Trying new things might result in hilarious failure, or an inspiring new adventure. The idea to grow our hobby into a working farm started to emerge with the passing of Brad’s grandfather. The Harris family always had a connection with the outdoors—camping, hunting, and fishing for as long as Brad can remember—and that had a huge influence on who he is today. Sarah’s best childhood memories are also inspired by the outdoors, climbing trees, splashing through creeks, and camping and fishing with her family. When Brad’s grandfather passed away, it sparked consideration about what it means to carry on a legacy; we were reminded that it’s our responsibility to pass on the values and ideals that made us who we are today. Through teaching the boys to grow, hunt, and harvest their own food, to taking time off to explore the Cascade Wilderness around us, it’s our goal to instill the those values as a part of our every day lives.
