💕 Thank you La Crosse Distilling Co. for featuring us in your Make-A-Difference Monday fundraiser! 15% of sales from the entree and cocktail features at today, July 29, will go to Circadian Organics.

🍽️ ENTREE: House-made squid ink parmesan and ricotta ravioli tossed in garlic cream sauce with sautéed asparagus and roasted heirloom tomatoes.

🥃 COCKTAIL: Mindflayer - strawberry infused Fieldnotes Vodka, vanilla, lime and squid ink

🫑 ALSO: Find & eat our “Resilient” Shish*to peppers (we grow the seeds, available at Driftless Seed Supply) on their menu this summer into fall. We just dropped off a fresh batch of peppers to their kitchen, harvested just hours ago today.

🌱 Thank you SO much to our wonderful community for helping us meet (and go beyond!) our fundraising goal after the flash flood on our farm. We are completely blown away by the support and so, so grateful to each of you who shared, donated to, and boosted our call for help.

🌱 Because of you, we are feeling so much relief. Our new seed venture with Driftless Seed Supply (of which Circadian Organics is one of the main farms) is able to remain above water (pun intended) and will be able to go into our second year of retail sales because of the funds raised.

🌱 Big hugs to all of you. Your support means so much to us. You have shown us the meaning of community and we will not forget it.

Dearest friends and former CSA members - we’re sad to announce that we will no longer be offering a fresh vegetable CSA. This was not an easy decision for us. We are so grateful to have grown food for so many families, and to have received such overwhelmingly positive reviews. We loved the diversity of produce we grew, the folks we got to know, the excitement when folks opened their boxes… but we realized we needed to make a change. With so many great CSAs in the area (and more starting up all the time), our need to continue scaling up to make a living, and some significant infrastructure investments needed (e.g. our coolers that failed last fall), it has become clear that we needed to move in a different direction to build a more economically sustainable and defensible business. We’ll still be farming, and we’ll still be engaging with community, but our business will look very different moving forward as we focus more on wholesale contracts and seed production. Stay tuned for some exciting news next month!

We encourage you to continue supporting young farmers as your CSA provider - if you’re looking for recommendations, feel free shoot us a DM or email. Keeping eating good veggies, and we hope to see you all soon!

This week was CSA Box 18! What a whirlwind these past couple weeks have been. Full shares received ‘Thelma Sanders’ winter squash, are one of our favorite nutty, sweet varieties that we save seed from - delicious baked and buttered or as a soup. Small shares received delicata. Both were paired with a ‘Brûlée’ mini desert squash - a super sweet, mini butternut type.

As a way to reduce end-season food waste, we are challenging CSA members to make fried green tomatoes this week. If you tried it, let us know how it went!

Last week’s CSA (Box 17) came together even though BOTH our coolers died in the middle of harvest. We’re considering it a success for that reason, but we are still faced with a huge choice of how, or even if, to continue farming. We love this beautiful, bountiful farm, and in time we will come to a decision.

Thanks to everyone who has reached out to offer advice and assistance; we genuinely appreciate it all. Thank you also to our patient and understanding CSA customers - y’all are the best. We couldn’t do this without you!
