With AI creeping into everything, I decided to go low tech on my update video today and do a cheese unboxing video with one of our cows, Molly. Molly makes fabulous cheese and is also a 5 star nurse cow mama 👏🥛

We got a lovely cheese order in from Golden Age Cheese and lots of new goodies on tap for this week! Sourdough will be in later today along with more ice-cream.

We’ve got some fresh beef in the freezer & it’s under a name you may not recognize yet: Milkmaid Beef Co.

One of our youngest Vanderbilts, just six years old, is bringing her Jersey Rose Veal to the table. Rose Veal is young beef that is able to live just like any other calf in our pastures: nursing with a mother, grazing on pasture, munching on our homegrown hay & living as a family in a herd ❤️

Traditional veal is pale in color, lacking iron from providing only milk in its short confined life. Our Rose Veal is a beautiful rose color, from its access to pasture, diverse forages and maturity in age.

We also utlize biodynamic practices with the dairy calves and we don’t emasculate or de-horn our babies- we aren’t trying to manipulate cows into fitting into an industrial standard. We are a small family farm and we intend to steward our animals as close to how nature intends as possible 🌱

The meat is wonderfully tender with a delicate flavor- suitable for any dish! We strive to grow food you feel good about eating ❤️

We hope you love the Rose Veal & we can’t wait to see what else our little milkmaid has up her sleeve 🥩🐄👩‍🌾

The farmstand is stocked with goodies, eggs and grassfed milk. We’ve got the basics in stock beef wise, inclduing stew. We are picking up fresh pork this week, some special beef, and sending more beef and lamb 🥩🥓🐑

I’ve been catching a lot of heat this week, due to my new ride. Or shall I say “ whip” for all my fellow gangsters out there.

You see, I wanted to be born in late 1800’s with a horse and buggy, hand milking my cows with my bonnet on. But life has a funny sense of humor!

We needed something big enough to fit an entire cow boxed up, pull a livestock trailer , have no rust, easy to acquire parts, and fit the family.
Enter: the Caddy Burger Patty Wagon.

Today, I broke it in and picked up some stunning local beef we had processed for some pasture to porch delivery boxes 😍

We are so grateful for the support our farm neighbors and friends over at Birch Rock Homestead ❤️ Postpartum is such a beautiful & refining time. We truly believe in the power of being nourished & healed by food! Our goal is continue to improve the nutrient density of our meats and the health of our soil & pastures 🌱
