As Im sure many of you know, Russia has been terrorizing Ukraine with horrific attacks and war. We found a person who had been raising funds for medical supplies, who also thought Maple Syrup would be great to help with morale. Well, we sent a case of our Quarts to the front line soldiers and just got these amazing photos of them with our syrup, bringing just a little bit of joy to the horrific lives they are all forced into. Our syrup has now traveled all the way around the world to Ukraine, where it is being enjoyed by the soldiers defending their freedom and democracy.

The last of the 2022 syrup is now in jars!!! Guess what, we found 3 cases of our popular Sugar Bear glass jars. These glass jars are 10oz each of our most luscious, mapley, nutty dark batch 16 syrup. This batch has all the classic maple flavors plus some toasty walnut to finish. A superb gift, or just great for your own counter. These bears are $10 ea. We also still have seed potatoes! Our multi-generational Pontiac Red, Yukon Gold and Peruvian Purples are 100% pesticide free- we hand pick beetles yearly to avoid chemicals.

We are restocking out Etsy page, and now have our seed Potatoes as well as our Syrup listed. Also some fun dried purple cayenne peppers w viable seeds or for eating. A first for 2022, we now have Gladiolus bulbs (spring bulbs!) for sale as well. Its been crazy cold the last few days, so we've been taking advantage to get some early lighter syrup jarred up! We think it tastes, and looks, amaaaazing! Remember the early season syrup is very nutty, buttery and butterscotch-ey with a light classic maple finish. We've had customers tell us they don't need butter, because of the flavors present in our early season lighter jars.

How we became Sugar Bear Maple Farms

Back in 2014 we purchased 10 acres mostly wooded with a beautiful stand of Sugar Maples. Our intent wasn’t originally to tap these tree’s, we just loved the forest. Then, while going through the mortgaging process we realized- “hey, these are Sugars! We could do syrup here, lots of it!!” And so it began. The very first spring, we tapped 15 trees and had a good friend weld a plug in the kitchen sink- well, one we bought from the re-use store, not our own kitchen sink. 8 gallons of liquid gold were made that spring. We’ve been growing every year since, working to build our business over time, aiming to be fully tapped out before 2020. For us, the quality of our syrup is above all other aspects of the syrup operation. We are proud to make the best syrup, from LP, with no smokey wood flavors, possible. That pride shows in the flavors of our syrup, nutty,butter mixed with butterscotch and mingled with that oh sooo good maple flavor. Our processes usually tend to have lighter syrups year round, more delicate and complex, give us a try- we know you’ll love it. We are makers of small batch, hand made, 100% pure maple syrup from northern Michigan.
