Last night, working into my 13th hour, I had a choice. To sweep or not to sweep.

During the course of the day we're presented a lot of choices, but its the ones we make at the end, when we're exhausted, sore, and hungry that actually mean very little but speak to quite a lot.

Cowboy ethos dictates that absolutely I must sweep the barn. To not would to be leaving the job unfinished. It wouldn't be professional. To sweep, is to leave the barn neat and tidy. It's the period at the end of the sentence that is your day.

(Hmmm... my days are like the way I talk. One big long run-on... Oh, but I digress)

Self care dictates that I extend myself grace. My gauge was definitely a whisper above "E". Who would know if it wasn't swept? Who would care?

Ultimately, *I* would know, and my stall cleaner would know and "passing the buck" on the mess I made wouldn't be right.

Sometimes sweeping isn't just sweeping. Sometimes it's practicing professionalism. Sometimes it's exhibiting care. Sometimes it's practicing just being a decent human.

I like to believe that if we practice in the small moments, when we *think* it doesn't matter, then we might just get it right in the big moments that do.
