Yesterday Spot went into labor. I let her be, went to the grocery store and came home to two beautiful, lively piglets. They were dry, eating, in fact one was already full and falling asleep next to momma. If you have been here for awhile you know Spot had 14 piglets in her last litter and raised 12! I knew she didn’t only have 2 piglets… but then she passed her placenta. She still seemed to be in labor and because of the anatomy of a hogs reproductive system it was very possible there were more. After 3+ hours we searched for a stuck piglet, nothing, so we called our vet.
Thankfully there were no stuck piglets…BUT that also means we only have two piglets. We are not too sure why this happened. There are a number of possibilities. But we are thankful for these two babies and this beautiful blessing. 💗
