Folks - Good morning! Below is an email I sent out today to all that have contacted me regarding a KPFZ radio program on the Kelseyville/Konocti Name Change Proposal.

I've simply pasted what I've written here, so understand that context. I do welcome all to participate. Please share this wherever you think you'll find some interest. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you,

John Moorhead

You've all contacted me in one form or another regarding your opinions and background on the Kelseyville/Konocti name change proposal. I am going to take calls tomorrow morning on KPFZ's "Citizen Lake" at 9AM and I invite you to call in! You can listen or call in (263-3435) at 88.1, or via streaming at KPFZ.ORG. I have not, and will not share your email addresses, and am using them here only as BCC to keep you in the loop.

"Citizen Lake" will start taking calls about 15 or 20 minutes into the hour, after starting the show and welcoming my first guest. I welcome ALL callers, but please, remember, no ad-hominem attacks, and for the love of Pete, Please stay on topic. If you're going to link the name change to either the Biden Crime Syndicate, Palace Drama with Trump, Hi**er or.... Global warming.... give it a rest - with my thanks! This is local, this is for Lake County!

I am working on the one hour special of "Citizen Lake" on this issue as you know, but have discovered that people that post on FB or write letters, don't necessarily want to talk on the radio. Regardless, work progresses!

I will be posting this also on social media. Please share with any and all. I welcome your questions and comments, as always.

Sincerely,

John Moorhead

This Caturday, from 9-10AM, "Citizen Lake" will put the Kelseyville Name Change front and center on KPFZ 88.1FM/KPFZ.ORG community radio.. I'll be taking calls - local issues, but would like the focus to be on the name change. I will give some background, and we will go from there.

I am having a hard time getting people to respond -that would like their remarks on air - so I *will* use elements of Caturday's program in a one hour special program.

If you'd like to take part, give a call at 707 263 3640. I will start taking calls within the first 10 minutes, but it takes me that long to get started, TCB and get my bearings.

Please share this information with anyone you think would be interested. You may also email me, John Moorhead at [email protected]. Thank you!

Had to share this... Some of these are old Mark Twain quotes, but they still ring true as sunrise!

Advice from a Farmer
Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.
Keep skunks and bankers at a distance.
Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.
A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.
Words that soak into your ears are whispered… not yelled.
Meanness don’t jes’ happen overnight.
Forgive your enemies; it messes up their heads.
Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.
It don’t take a very big person to carry a grudge.
You cannot unsay a cruel word.
Every path has a few puddles.
When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.
The best sermons are lived, not preached.
Most of the stuff people worry about ain’t never gonna happen anyway.
Don’t judge folks by their relatives.
Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
Live a good, honorable life… Then when you get older and think back, you’ll enjoy it a second time.
Don ‘t interfere with somethin’ that ain’t bothering you none.
Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a Rain dance.
If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin’.
Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.
The biggest troublemaker you’ll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin’.
Always drink upstream from the herd.
Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.
Lettin’ the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin’ it back in.
If you get to thinkin’ you’re a person of some influence, try orderin’ somebody else’s dog around..
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.
Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just kill you.
Most times, it just gets down to common sense.

Hello Everyone!

This bears repeating - today, Saturday, from 2-4 PM and next Tuesday, from Noon til 2, I have a put together a special program as a tribute to my brother, Oscar Dominguez. He got all of the answers figured out, four years ago, today. What follows below is my blog entry for the program on KPFZ.org. The program is streamed through the website, on air, and I also have a link on soundcloud. "Listen to the Music" is a labor of love, and frankly, putting the show together is a kick in the ass! This week, I am paying tribute to late best friend, brother, and fellow traveler, Oscar Dominguez.

Oscar died in 2020. He taught biology at Clear Lake High School, and I taught woodshop - I retired a couple of years ago. Oscar's breadth of knowledge was formidable. We had many lively conversations about old cars, tardigrades, Schrodinger's cat, the state of things, generally, and Tom Waits.

The thing that Oscar and I shared the love for was music! Oh, golly.... Blues, Jazz, Rock, Folk, Ethnic - a soundscape and a roadmap to anywhere. He could listen to Klingon Opera or Django Reinhardt and tell you something surprising about both of them. His sons, RRio Dominguez OOscar Solano Dominguezo, Sereno.... Ken PPam Hook Howard White, DDavid Sammel Bob and LLaisné Hamilton we would often play music in various configurations, and simply have a blast doing it! God how I miss him!

Anyway, this week's "Listen to the Music" is a tribute to a really great guy - I'll play a grab bag of songs that Oscar liked, songs that we all played together, and well.... You get the idea.

The following Saturday, April 20, "Listen to the Music" is dedicated to KPFZ's late Ron Green and, well, ummm... Well...It airs on 4/20, so you can draw your own conclusions - maybe we can go with "RE**ER MADNESS"!. Smoke 'em if you've got them. This one was really fun to put together, and I found a few gems of w**d songs you probably haven't heard!

As always, thanks for listening. You can get in touch by emailing me at [email protected].

Selah,

John Moorhead

All - Many of you knew Oscar ( Rio Dominguez Oscar Solano Dominguez Sereno Dominguez) and he was a wonderful guy. Anyway - Oscar had a bunch of songs that he loved - we played them together with a bunch of cohorts over the years... So - I've put together a radio program for Saturday 2-4PM on KPFZ 88.1FM and KPFZ.ORG, but for all, here's a link for the soundcloud file. Enjoy!

Hello All! My name is John Moorhead. I host a public affairs program on Community Radio, KPFZ at 88.1FM. I host "Citizen Lake" on the 2nd and 4th Saturday each month (Chloe Karl hosts the other two Saturdays) from 9 to 10AM.
I am putting together a program to examine the issue of changing the name of Kelseyville to Konocti. I am looking for input across the board. My opinion here isn't relevant - what I want to do is to give a full hearing of the range of opinions, background and all so that individuals can make up their own opinions, and act accordingly. If you wish to contact me, please email me at ""[email protected]". Please include your name so I know who I am conversing with, not just "[email protected]"... I am also going to set up a zoom meeting and ask for opinions. I will record the Zoom meeting and use selections of the audio in the final program. I expect to have the program completed sometime in April or so, for airing in May or June. I welcome any and all comments at the email address I've given. Thank you!

I have set up a ZOOM meeting for Tuesday at 7:15PM as a forum for discussion - this will be recorded and used to produce a program airing on "Citizen Lake" in May or June. Email me at the address above for an invite, and share! Thank you!
