First babies… now ✨ B E E S ✨
Seeing as how one of my best friends is a beekeeper, we needed to get bees on our farm, we just needed to. I am SO THRILLED to have them! When we installed them we saw both queens and all of the bees were so happy and calm! We’ll do our best to take care of these beauties!

If there’s one thing we care about here at Leafy Acre Farm as much as growing excellent quality vegetables, it’s conservation and restoration of the land we’re so lucky to live with. Our woods are still a work in progress but here are some pictures of some of the spring ephemeral wildflowers we have so far:

• wood anemone and jack-in-the-pulpit
• wild geranium
• some pretty colored violets
• Virginia bluebells

And a few sneaky half-free morels! 😱

When your rooster wake up to snow in mid-April. 😂 He mad.

Froot Loop hates snow!! He’s so over it at this point. 😅 The snow melted quickly and he did eventually come out of the coop. Poor guy lol.

Things are greening up around here!! 🌱

We’ve gotten a lot of weeding and mulching done in the garden recently and we have onions and brassica plants started. The hens’ laying had picked up and the Virginia bluebells under our flagship oak tree are starting to come up. Lots of things happening and everyone is excited for spring!!

Check out those rainbow eggs! 🌈

These 6 eggs represent the egg color diversity in our current flock. The current color pallet is super cute pastels and very spring/Easter-like!

We are planning on adding some more laying hens of different breeds to our flock this spring to increase the diversity of egg colors we’ll have. Until then the girls we already have are doing a fine job!
