And that's a wrap, we're done for the season! 6 does produced 20 kids (19 live and 1 stillborn).

Triplets for Chrysi this afternoon, 2 bucks and 1 doe. L & A Farm Kinders Jasper, an F3 Kinder, is the sire. Chrysi is a Kinder and Mini LaMancha cross, so the kids are a mix of LaMancha, Nigerian Dwarf, Nubian, and Pygmy. All are healthy. Buck 2 and the Doe were attempting to exit at the same time, buck head forward and doe back feet first...that was fun. πŸ˜‰ We certainly appreciated the afternoon kidding; thank you, Chrysi! Buck #1, brown with light markings, white poll, moonspots, 5.4 #; Buck #2, brown with light markings, white poll, moonspots, 4.8 #; Doe, brown with light markings, white poll, spotted dorsal, 4.0 #.

A little late in posting this, but our sweet Opal had triplets, 2 does and 1 buck, late Wednesday evening. All three had excellent weights. The kids are F5 Kinders, Kinder Korner Colby is the sire. Unfortunately the first doe was stillborn and she was a roadblock to the delivery. I was able to remove her and then Opal was able to deliver the buck and then the other doe without issue. Doe #1, brown with light markings, 5.4 # (stillborn); Buck, solid black, 5.6 #; Doe #2, black (appears to be solid, might have a hair or two of white 🧐), 4.8 #. They are all tall, lanky things, appearing to be all legs. But at 2 1/2 days old, the surviving two are showing excellent weight gain. It was a late night but I did stick around for the afterbirth as I did not want Opal to eat it (does do like snack on it) and I wanted to inspect it. The afterbirth actually met my expectation. The doe appeared full-term and healthy, just was extremely pale as if for lack of blood. And the afterbirth did show a lack of blood in a section, presumably where she was attached. So, it appears it was as simple as the blood supply getting cut off to her not long before Opal delivered, maybe a day or two...but still I did not let Opal have her snack. She got a bowl of grain and some warm molasses water instead.

Chickie had twin does last night, just before chores, so the timing was good. Both are beautiful and healthy. Sunflower Mountain Saxifrax *B (Nigerian Dwarf) is the sire, so the girls are F1 Mini LaMancha with high percentage Nigerian Dwarf [28:72]. They definitely got their coloring from Chickie's genetics and their polled and blue eye genetics from Sax. Doe #1 is dark chocolate brown, polled and has blue eyes, 4.8 #; Doe #2 is cou clair, polled and has blue eyes, 4.4 #. I'm not quite sure if Doe 2 has a base color of black or chocolate like her sister; colors generally change a bit anyway. But when she came out she looked like she had silver hair like me. The white in her color pattern may actually be gray or silver; her grandsire's brothers were silver chamoise. Despite the storm, Chickie's timing was good as this gives the girls nearly 48 hours before the temps dip way down. So, no complaints!

Kari continued the trend this afternoon, with quads, 3 does and 1 buck. The sire is one of our Kinder bucks, Jasper. The kids have typical Kinder coloring, but the girls have Kari's Mini LaMancha elf ears and the buck has Jasper's large Kinder ears. All beautiful and appear to be healthy. I did have to assist with two of them (checked my data, and I assisted with two on her previous kidding as well), poor girl, but she did bear with my intrusion well enough. Doe 2 was head back and upside down, and Doe 3, the last one out, was trying to exit tail first and Kari was exhausted by that time. Doe 1, brown with light markings, frosted elf ears, 4.4 #; Doe 2, brown with dark markings, frosted elf ears, 5.2 #; Buck, brown with dark and white markings, white poll, frosted ears, 5.0 #; Doe 3, brown with dark markings, white poll, frosted elf ears, 3.8 #. Good weights!

Next up is another Mini LaMancha, Chickie. I expect she will break the trend, as she had a single on her first kidding, and she looks like she might have a single or maybe twins. Any day for her.

Quads for Summer last night, and just like Hati, three bucks, one doe. 😁 Wide range of weights on them and she had more fluid than we have ever seen in the kiddings here; seemed like gallon poured out (too much information for some I'm sure, sorry). Buck 1 - brown w/white poll and frosted ears, 3.0 #; Buck 2 - brown (very chatty, will be called the screamer), 4.6 #; Buck 3 - brown w/wattles, 5.4 #; Doe - brown w/white poll and frosted ears, 5.4 #. Summer has short legs and she had so much colostrum in her udder, I pulled out 34.0 ounces this morning, and she still had a lot in there, but at least it got her udder up a bit off the ground, and the kids don't have to go quite so low. πŸ˜† That's the screamer looking at me in the first photo.

Quads for Hati this evening, three bucks, one doe. 😁 Good weights on them too. Buck 1 - black w/white belt and markings, blue eyes, 4.0 #; Buck 2 - black w/partial white belt and markings, blue eyes, 4.2 #; Buck 3 - black with minimal white and moonspots, 3.4 #; Doe - black with minimal white, 3.8 #. Brihati is a big girl for a Nigerian Dwarf at 100 lbs, but that still is a lot of baby - 15.4 pounds of baby.

Also due on 1/21/2026 is Sunflower Mountain Kantakari, an F1 Mini LaMancha. At nearly 6-years-old, Kari will be a third freshener, coming off an extended lactation through 2025. Her previous breeding was with one of our Kinder bucks, Kinder Korner Colby, and I was very happy with her kids. I retained one of her girls and she will be kidding in February as a first freshener. This breeding for Kari was with our other Kinder buck, L & A Farm Kinders Jasper. The kids will be a mix of four breeds - LaMancha, Nubian, Nigerian Dwarf, and Pygmy, and they will be retained.

The next two due in January are both Mini LaManchas, and they are due on the same day. Based on previous kiddings, I would expect them to kid a couple days apart. So first, is Sunflower Mountain Chicken of the Woods, an F2 with erect ears, with higher percentage LaMancha (56% to 44% Nigerian). I did not register her but absolutely loved her sire and granddam, and was very pleased with her first kidding in 2024. Chickie will be a 4-year-old second freshener, coming off an extended lactation through 2025. Sunflower Mountain Saxifrax *B (Nigerian Dwarf) is the sire of the kids, who will be F1 Mini LaMancha (high percentage Nigerian), and they will be retained. Chickie is due 1/21/2026.

Next in January is a Kinder pairing, Dyer Family Farms Summer Sun [F5] X L&A Farm Kinders Jasper [F3], due 1/16/2026. Kids will be F4 Kinders and will be available/registerable with KGBA. Summer last kidded in 2023 and went on an extended lactation for 2024. She had one visible, raging heat in the fall of '24, but I wasn't wanting to have her stand at that time, and then she never showed another heat for the rest of the season...silly girl. So, she lazed around for the past year, but we got her this time around and this will be her fourth freshening. She always has fabulous kids! We have three of her girls and love them!

First up is a Nigerian Dwarf breeding, Sunflower Mountain Brihati 2*M, who will be freshening for her fifth time. She last kidded in 2024 and did an extended lactation through 2025. Hati is due 1/8/2026. Cedar View Regulus *B is the sire of the kids; all will be available and registerable with ADGA; bucklings will be *B.
