We are Susan Hamilton and Patrick Phillips, and we are the owners of Sweetwater Farm Natural Beef. Pat grew up raising beef and dairy cattle in Wisconsin, and Susan is third generation raising natural grass-fed beef in the San Luis Valley and S. San Juan Mountains. After working and playing together the last 15 years as commercial Grand Canyon river-rafting guides, we are returning to our roots to
raise natural, healthy beef in an environmentally beneficial and sustainable way. Better for All; the Animal, the Environment, and the Consumer. The Animal:
No grain- an unnatural food source and harmful to long-term health
Lives a pleasant, low stress life in a natural pasture
The Environment:
Less fossil fuels used raising corn/grain
Less fertilizer/pesticide/chemical footprint
The Consumer:
Richest known source of a type of fat called "conjugated linoleic acid" or CLA. CLA may be one of our most potent defenses against cancer! Antibiotic free; builds human resistance to antibiotics
Hormone free; self-explanatory
Most Important: The TASTE! Low stress handling produces a more tender product.
“Consumers need to understand there is a difference,” said Ed Doyle, owner of Real Food, a restaurant management consulting firm in Boston. “Grass-fed beef is not an alternative to commodity beef; it’s its own product with bolder flavors.”
