Lautercreek Crochet, critters, and country life 🐓 🧶

Sharing crochet patterns and farm shenanigans from our little homestead in Eastern KY.

We raise alpine goats, BBS Marans, and Katahdin sheep, all while building onto our 400sqft home in the Appalachian foothills.

This pattern is a little different from my typical genre, but it was oh so fun to make - introducing the little dragon crochet pattern! It feels like a huge milestone to have this published, mainly because it was my first time having a pattern officially tested outside of family. I was definitely rather terrified at first (introvert that I am lol), but I was floored how encouraging and kind the testers were. This pattern would literally not be the same without them, and I'm so glad I had a brave moment and took the leap to ask for their help!
You can find this little dragon on Etsy and Ravelry - link in my bio and stories!

"I wish to hatch my own eggs; I will hatch them all by myself," quacked J̵e̵m̵i̵m̵a̵ ̵P̵u̵d̵d̵l̵e̵-̵d̵u̵c̵k̵ Lucinda Jane.

Lucinda Jane emerged from hiding on Mother's day with 14 (!!) baby ducklings! It's delightful to watch them bumbling after her, chasing bugs and splashing in mud puddles❤️

And the votes are in! Now that the front cover is decided, it's time for pattern testing, and then the little dragon crochet pattern will be ready to soar! 🐉

(If anybody is interested in pattern testing, let me know! It's a medium-sized crochet project for a confident beginner)

If you have a moment, please help me decide which image I should use for my little dragon crochet pattern cover! I've stared at these images for the last hour, trying to make up my mind, to no avail. I would love some help 😄.

Use the emojis to vote, and I'll use the one with the most votes.

ETA - it looks like FB cropped some of the picture previews. Click on the picture and you should be able to see the whole image.

A snippet of our house progress this weekend! Plywood now covers 3/4s of the roof, and we started rolling out roofing paper!

This is why I have to sneak outside when I take crochet pattern photos - I'm always mobbed by the animals 😂. They seem to think photoshoot time is snuggle time!

Hi everyone! We're looking for a few feeder pigs in Johnson, Lawrence, Magoffin, or Floyd county - or anywhere within an hour of Flatgap, KY. We would prefer to avoid the smaller breeds, but beyond that, we would be satisfied with any breed or mix, gilts or barrows. If they're trained to electric fencing, even better, though we can train them if necessary.

Thank you! 🙂

At last—I finished creating and editing my realistic squirrel pattern after working on it for months! It might seem like a small thing, but designing a pattern is always a labor of love and a bit of a daily grind, so it’s always a big hurrah when it finally comes together. This was a fun pattern to work on, especially because we just so happened to rescue and rehab a baby squirrel right in the middle of designing it 🤭 (more on that later). The pattern is now available in my Etsy and Ravelry shops! I'll post the link in my stories.
