Hair sheep yearling ewes looking for new pastures!

Lily and Ivy are the most amicable of our small flock, and truly have the sweetest personalities. We purchased them a few months ago to expand our flock, but as we keep sheep for meat, their smaller frames don’t quite meet our size/weight requirements. They’ve always been healthy and active on our farm; both are just naturally petite, especially Lily. They would be better suited as outdoor pets or brush-clearers. They were born at the beginning of January of this year. Since we’ve had them, they have never received any shots, medications, or dewormers. They're especially resilient and extremely adorable!

Please message me if you're interested! Our small homestead is located in Flatgap, Kentucky, 25 minutes north of Paintsville.

I recently made a page for all my crochet things! 😁 Here's my current WIP.

When we first heard shrill, eerie shrieks echoing through the forest in the dark of the night, we thought something dreadful was happening. Surely, something - or someone - was being eaten or tortured! Fortunately, as it turned out, nothing was being eaten alive*; in fact, it was just a few “toddler” owls yelling for food! 🦉 Within a couple weeks, we began seeing graceful sweeping wings gliding through the trees every evening - like scheduled theatre just at twilight. The joy of watching them fluttering around and cooing to each other inspired me to sit down and write a crochet pattern in hopes of bottling up a bit of the whimsy. I'm having so much fun with the design, that I wanted to pause and share my progress so far! I decided to make a Barn Owl first, as I love their markings and thought I could try some shaping that I was hoping would work for their cute little faces - and it was nerdily exhilarating to discover that it worked out perfectly. Now I only need to work on the wings a bit before I start snapping pattern photos. I’m planning to try a few other varieties soon, now that I'm on a roll! Crochet owl spam, incoming...

*Now that I'm thinking about it, their food is probably being eaten alive 🤔. But That's not what I want to 'bottle up' or memorialize, so never mind that part... quick, moving on to the wings!

Me, 1 month ago: “We’re not getting another dog until Bowser is old and gray!”

Fast forward to today 😂.

To be fair, I did say that if we were to get another dog, it would be a livestock guardian dog.

Here's how it happened: I was telling my mom about the deer eating my berry bushes and the trespassing issues we’ve been having on our property. Bowser does a great job patrolling and protecting the animals inside the fence, but he can’t reach outside of this area.

A few hours later, my Mom messaged me, saying that Grandma’s nurse had found a seemingly abandoned Great Pyrenees puppy on the side of the road and brought her to their house.

Then she sent me a picture.

I couldn’t resist. I fell for the trap, hook, line, and sinker. 😂

So, here we are - with a new puppy while Bowser is most certainly not “old and gray.”

Meet Heidi! 🐾🤍

Sadly, we won't make it to the Homesteaders Market tomorrow - it's been a busy week, and I have a lot of catching up to do in the garden.
But I still recommend stopping by for local produce, chickens, raw honey, delicious sweets, and crafts!

Market tomorrow! 9-12

Hope to see you there!

Pictured is my sweet chicken Lucy that I snagged up from a few markets ago!

The best offer will be taken, as we just want them to go to a good home.

We also have 4 young olive egger roosters available from quality marans and whiting true blue lines. They will be processed as soon as I have the time, but I wanted to see if anybody was interested in them before I do so!

This may be a long shot, but I thought I'd try anyway! Does anybody in this area have Nuflor or Draxxin? These are antibiotics used for treating pneumonia in goats, and Mr Charcoal, one of our newest goats, is showing signs of pnuemonia.
If not, do you know any good vets in the Paintsville, KY area that is knowledgeable about livestock? Thank you! 😁

Hey all! Unfortunately, we are not going to have sourdough bread at the Homesteaders Market this morning. We have a very busy weekend ahead - including possibly adding fresh pork to the larder!
Though we may not be there, I still recommend swinging by the market to pick up fresh veggies, honey, apparel, chicks, rabbits, and more!

Fresh sourdough sandwich bread will be available at the Homesteaders Market in Blaine, KY starting at 10am, rain or shine! Come by and pick up a loaf!

🥖 $6 per 32oz sourdough loaf

🥖 $5 for a loaf from the ‘bargain bin’ (still delicious and tasty, just not as aesthetically pleasing!)

We'll also have olive egger pullets and roosters available, and possibly ducks if we can convince them to stop playing in the rain 😂.
