After countless different recipes and experiments, and many, many dirty dishes, eureka! I found it: the perfect sourdough chocolate chip cookie!

Admittedly, I always thought that sourdough cookies sounded rather silly - why would you alter a perfectly good, perfectly tasty cookie? Now I get it: sourdough adds something that I didn't know was missing, but now I can't go without. We can't stop eating them - which is probably not a good thing 😂. And surprisingly, unlike my old recipe, these cookies are even better the next day!
We started with over 2 dozen cookies last night.
We're down to what's left on this plate! I had to hurry and take a photo before we ate them all.

Lord willing, these sourdough chocolate chip cookies will be available at the Homesteaders Market this coming Saturday!

PS: Matthew said I should not post this because it makes us sound like piggies 😆. Also, this is a long post for a simple cookie, but I can't help it - they're just so good!

We had a bit of excitement in the last few days: while picking up feed for our new little piggies, Matthew broke his leg!
He was jumping out of the back of a semi-truck when his left foot somehow snagged, leaving him to land abruptly at an odd angle on his right leg. It snapped audibly (I was on the phone with him at the moment and heard it through the speaker!). When he was rushed to the ER, the xray revealed he had broken both the tibia and fibula - the big and little bones in the lower right leg. He stayed overnight, and then underwent surgery the following morning. The amazing surgeon inserted a steel rod in the broken tibia. Apparantly, with this rod, he doesn't really need a cast, and he can put weight on his leg much sooner. In fact, they sent him home the same day! He was rather uncomfortable the first few days, but he's improving rapidly, and he was even able to take the outer bandage off a few days ago, praise the Lord!
It looks like the house build is on hold for a little while 😅. Perhaps this is a reminder to slow down and focus on other things. Our whole pace of life is suddenly different, which is both jarring and somehow lovely at the same time.

This pattern is a little different from my typical genre, but it was oh so fun to make - introducing the little dragon crochet pattern! It feels like a huge milestone to have this published, mainly because it was my first time having a pattern officially tested outside of family. I was definitely rather terrified at first (introvert that I am lol), but I was floored how encouraging and kind the testers were. This pattern would literally not be the same without them, and I'm so glad I had a brave moment and took the leap to ask for their help!

Lucinda Jane emerged from hiding on Mother's day with 14 (!!) baby ducklings! It's delightful to watch them bumbling after her, chasing bugs and splashing in mud puddles❤️
