Lisa Routel Launches Write-In Campaign for Readington Township Committee:
READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — August 19, 2026 — Lisa Routel announced today that she is launching a write-in campaign for Readington Township Committee in the November 3, 2026 General Election, offering voters an independent choice focused on protecting Readington’s character, quality of life, and future.
In the Republican primary, Lisa Routel and Jon Kowal fell short by a handful of votes in a very low-turnout election. In spite of that, in June Lisa was overwhelmingly elected in GOP district 5, and Jon was overwhelmingly elected in GOP district 12. In the June Readington Republican County Committee reorganization meeting, Jon was elected as Chair of the Readington GOP. Lisa and Jon represent the New Readington GOP—a united, forward-looking organization focused on bringing Republicans and all Readington residents together, building a stronger future for Readington.
Jon Kowal, as newly elected Readington GOP Chair, enthusiastically supports Routel’s write-in campaign and the Protect Readington platform.
“My campaign is about the people of Readington—not outside developers,” said Routel. Routel emphasized her campaign offers a clear contrast to candidates backed by developers who seek greater influence over local government. “I am committed to preserving our community’s rural character, protecting our quality of life, and ensuring residents have a strong voice in the decisions that shape our future. These are common-sense priorities shared by Republicans, Independents, and Democrats alike.”
The Protect Readington Township Platform - focus is on four key priorities:
