Hello,
My name is Ms. Kree and I am a 3rd grade teacher in Flint, wanting to share with you a classroom wishlist to support my SPED (special education students with autism, ADHD & Oppositional Defiant Disorder) more efficiently within our classroom. The items that I am most in need of are multiple pairs of noise-cancelling headphones for autistic students to use during lunch time, assemblies or sometimes who group lessons since my class is a general education inclusive class, sensory necklaces for students with oral fixation concerns, spell & speak to assist with reading comprehension and communication for students participating in speech therapy, plate wear and toothbrushes to help support life skills of sped students and prevent bullying and lowered self-esteem and a light wall to help with sensory concerns and focus task training, will also help prevent elopers (students at risk of running/escaping) from leaving the environment of our classroom due their sensory needs being met in class.
As an entire class, I am working with all students regardless of abilities on social emotional and communication skills in a positive manner with their peers and would love to incorporate the Ninja reading series in my daily mindfulness routine for students to encourage positive self-awareness and coping skills amongst my students. I work with multiple students with moderate to severe ADHD, OPD and even low to high functioning Autism and want to create a safe space where they cannot only learn in but thrive in as they develop as children. I appreciate any support you may offer, even if it is simply sharing with your friends and family.
As a guest teacher within my school currently going to school myself for my endorsement in special education learning disabilities there are many traditional grants and funding my classroom is not eligible for outside of the common lack of funding within our education system, so I come to members of my community and surrounding communities asking for not just support but compassion in combination of supporting the students of my classroom. I always invite anyone supporting my classroom to visit my classroom and meet my students they are supporting and my students love meeting our supporters whom I refer to as our angels who come together and help instill hope and encouragement into the lives of my elementary students. Thank you kindly for any support. -Ms. Kree đź’›
