Mable and Jack Farmstead

Mable and Jack Farmstead Mable and Jack Farmstead sits on 22 acres located 30 minutes north of Huntsville just across the Tennessee state line.

The land has been in our family since 1917 and in 2022 we officially named the farm after a mare named Mable and a mule named Jack. We're a 22-acre family farm just above the Alabama state line. Follow our journey as we regenerate the land, one project at a time!

In so many corners of our home you will find . I first discovered Tori’s products in Nashville which turned into a deep admiration and love for the brand.

I now have the opportunity to work alongside Tori and these products have found their way into nearly every part of my daily rhythms.

My morning skincare routine isn’t complete without Liver Mend, Golden Sun Serum and Copper Peptide Serum. I freaking love the tonifying deodorant spray and now use it as a toner on my face too.

Adaptogen chai with milk and maple syrup is there for me when I need to calm the day away and as an anxious girlie Altered States is a freaking godsend when my stress spikes. I literally keep it at my desk so it’s there when I need it.

I picked up the Roots and Bones tea in the spring release and will be cycling that into my morning tea ritual. I’m also excited to try Maiden Polish and Foragers Oxymel.

Chris took dust bowl to survive allergy season and we both love Bitter Beginning for digestion.

I sprinkle the herby mushroom salts on literally everything and they really do make everything better (especially scrambled eggs).

But I truly can’t say enough about the quality of these products. We’ve tried so many “natural” or sustainable brands and been disappointed by the lack of efficacy or ingredients lists. Not only is Cedar Hill formulated by Tori who is an herbalist, they source from small farms, make things by hand, AMD they actually work.

I’ve seen a tangible difference in my skin and my overall quality of life because of these products. They feel like little luxuries in my day.

In a world where everything is so accessible and available there’s something so special and sacred about buying from a brand like Cedar Hill. There’s simply no comparison out there.

And if you’re near Nashville or want a great day trip you MUST visit the Apothecary in Springfield. So many beautiful small brands curated into the cutest store with the best gals. It’s 10/10 worth the drive.

Our hack for being able to eat local for nearly all our meals is the Food Hub. We can shop 30+ local farms and producers all in one place from the comfort of our home.

This has been especially helpful during a very busy year and on week’s we can’t make it to the farmers market. We still have access to fresh, local food that we can trust from farmers we know.

The Hub is also year-round!!! So that means as farmers markets close for the season, we will still be able to shop the Hub and eat local through the winter season.

We stopped in to Huntsville’s newest space for foodies today. is a new cooking school offering cooking classes for Spanish classics like paella and Spanish tortilla as well as other classes like pizza and handmade pasta.

The owners are a husband and wife duo. Today we had a chance to sample paella, a delicious Spanish French toast, and basque cheesecake all of which were delicious.

We’re thrilled to have this new addition to the neighborhood and Huntsville’s food scene.

I’m thrilled to share the first M&J Dried Floral Collection available through . Designed with flowers grown on the farm and our home garden along with salvaged blooms from a local florist, these beauties require no water and no maintenance.

Each one comes in a thoughtfully curated vessel and I’m quite partial to the little vintage jug!

The tones are a mix of creams, deep maroon and purple, and light pink which will carry you from fall to winter beautifully.

Three arrangements available at shop.huntsvillefoodhub.com for Tuesday pickup or delivery.

This year’s fall porch installation at Lowell Landing using flowers I grew and foraged and dried okra pods from Sligo Farms. There’s a mix of hydrangeas, dahlias, zinnias, black-eyed Susan’s, grasses, celosia, and sunflowers.

Our porch gets a beating in the afternoon sun so I expect these to fade over time. With that, I’ll likely keep the wreath on the inside of our door most of the time to preserve it a little longer.

Over the moon at how this came out and can’t wait to enjoy it through Thanksgiving.

A perfect fall day here in Huntsville 🍁

Transformed the porch for fall, picked up pumpkins , Chris grilled and made sweet potato sorghum brown butter grits, and we’re ending the night with a movie in the backyard.

It’s become a little tradition with Chris’ family to have duck confit anytime we are together. We usually serve it up with mushroom risotto, but there are some incredible potatoes and garlic in the hub right now so we went with what’s in season.

Chris paired the duck leg quarters with a fig sauce made from Fig Preserves. We enjoyed them with garlic mashed butterball potatoes from Beason’s Farm and stewed apples.

Duck, potatoes, garlic, and preserves from , apples from CSA, herbs from the garden

Madison County market haul - late summer edition 🍅

We needed some eggs and as always, found even more to bring home.

I’m going to string up these peas to dry and use as fall decoration. We’re conducting a sourdough sandwich bread showdown to see which we like best and I had to pick up my favorite sauerkraut made with local cabbage.

The Madison County market is oldest farmers market in Huntsville (est. 1814!) and it is a treasure in our community.

We’re so thrilled to see the packed parking lot on Saturday mornings and the support for this vital connection to local agriculture.

An easy, delicious local dinner. Lemon caper roasted chicken thighs with scalloped Sligo Farms potatoes.

Both purchased through ! I cannot explain the difference it makes in our ability to consistently eat local. If we can’t make it to a farmers market, we know we still have access to local goods (34+ producers and 600+ products) including things we can’t find at markets. And I’m definitely looking forward to that year-round access after farmer’s markets close for the season!
