Yesterday, bought two hives. They’ve been previously used and there was a mention of the possibility of wax moths. They haven’t been used in some time but I would like to get them cleaned out really well before I start new colonies. Any advice on how to do so would be greatly appreciated. 🐝

The plan is to use these to raise bees at home. Hubbys idea. 🤗

Such a long but rewarding day. Several hours of honey harvesting today. We estimate about 50lbs worth. 🍯 Can’t complain, can’t complain. Hives are healthy and doing well. 🤗

Reintroduction🐝

Hi friends, I’m Mika! Since I haven’t been here in awhile I figured I reintroduce myself.
•
I started beekeeping a year ago with the help of my Uncle/mentor. I had been wanting to do beekeeping for awhile before I got started. I dove straight in with research and decided this would be something cool, new, and exciting to do. I was unsure how much I would really enjoy it but I ended up loving it. I even surprised myself with how second nature it felt and how calm and at ease I was around the colony.
•
Something I figured would be a hobby, grew into a passion. That passion turned into me starting a business & We Beekeepin’ Honey was born!

Hi Friends! 🙋🏽‍♀️

Boy! Have we been as busy as the bees. But we are back!
•
We made a decent sized move from Colorado Springs down to Florence at the end of May. Took time to settle in & get used to moving from big city to small town. Also, we took a 2 week trip to California to visit family at the end of June and are getting back into our daily routine still.
•
Bees are doing amazing! Last years hive is doing just as amazing as it did last year. The new hive is doing spectacular. This past week, I added a deep box to the new hive & a super to last years hive; which now has two. 🤗
•
Business should be good at the end of the season so be sure stay tuned and keep track of all things We Beekeepin’ Honey! 🍯

Today was a good day. Bees are in their new home & last years hive has started building out some beautiful comb in the super we left on through winter. All is looking good so far. 🐝

This year, Sydney got to experience installing the bees. She was so excited. Videos & pictures to come.
