Surprise surprise!! Guess what we have this weekend?! Only until we sell out though. I was able to get my hands on some Muscadine’s and make some muscadine jelly this week. Also, because I was a little short on the muscadine juice for the last batch, we have a tangy muscadine and apple cider blend jelly. It’s sooooooo good!!!!

See yall at the market today. 8-12!

Who’s tired and wants to go back to bed?? I do!!!!

Too bad for us though. lol. It’s farmers market Saturday at the Killen Farmers Market. We’re here, and loaded down with all the things you love.

Now on to yesterday…

Did we finish the roof? Yes!! Did we get the front door installed? Yes! Did we get the windows all framed? No, only one. 🤨

We’re short a singular 1x4, so we will pick that up today or tomorrow morning. Did we get the building primered? Just around the windows, doors, and corner trim. Did we get the corner trim on the building? Yes!!!

Today we’re taking a farm store break and going to mow the yard after the market. It looks so bad yall. You’d think we haven’t mowed in a month but it’s only been two weeks.

Then tomorrow we’re back at it with the store. Install the last door, trim out the last window, and get to primer and painting!!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Will update Sunday!

Hello!! Big summer blowout (nonsense)

Well I said we were gonna finish the roof last week and I was WRONG!! You ever been wrong, happened to me.

We literally ran out of materials at the last moment. Ridge cap vent and shingles!! But don’t you worry, I picked up what we needed and we are back at it. Jons actually doing as I type this out.

Since we couldn’t finish the roof, we moved on to doing more of the siding to get that done. We got all the way to the last section (the porch roof) and I gave out. I was pooped, and I quit. Jon wanted to finish but to be honest he was exhausted too and needed to go inside.

So for today’s agenda, we’re actually finishing the roof, then the last of the siding and our hope is to primer, get doors and trim on, and paint. We’ll see if that last part happens.

I’ll keep ya posted!!

Goooooood morning Vietnam!

Uh, I mean Alabama. 🤷🏼‍♀️ we’re back at it this morning. And by “we” I mean Jon’s up there hammering away on the ridge cap of the roof and I’m down here waiting for him to need something.

See that ladder, that’s my job. We got out here just after 6am to try and get this last part of the roof finished before the sun really comes out and tries to kill us.

This afternoon’s agenda is to get the last of the wrap and siding up and if we’re really really really lucky, start primer and painting.

I had to change my color pick yesterday because what I wanted wasn’t available in outdoor paint. But that’s alright, it’s still gonna give the same vibe.

I’ll check in later today, depending on how dead, excited, or hyper I am.

🤪🤪

Did I post the update last night? Nope!! But, we got a surprise workday for the farm store and Jon took the opportunity to get more roofing finished.

I didn’t show up until about lunch time (errands to run), but when I got there I helped him knock it out.

We’re back at it this morning and we are on the last section to finish. Should be done by the end of the work day.

Once we’re done here, we will get back to the siding, finish that up and our goal is to have the primer on by end of day Sunday!

Cross your fingers for us!!

Yesterday was way bluer than today is, but we’re still out here. Jon’s doing shingles and I’m helping. Like shake and bake! 😂😂

But for real, Jon’s up and down that ladder making sure everything is perfect (as can be), and I’m down here in charge of music, cutting shingles for beginning rows, restocking his nail gun, restocking shingles for him to stack on the roof, and dragging tools back and forth.

Today’s goal is to finish the back side of the building, if the rain chills out I think he will be able to start the front side.

Until then he works and I dance around like a fool and look at my pretty flowers next to the apple tree 🤪

Lord have mercy we are tired!!! But we have a good reason. Today’s update includes a question for yall, so keep reading.

Jon finally let me back out to the work site after my birthday on Wednesday. And we knocked out a lot of work in two day. To be honest I don’t even really remember what all we did yesterday, but I do remember that we were out there for about 12 hours!

Today we got the store wrapped, and got the first wall of siding up. Including both of our window!!!

Let me tell you, Jon smashed his thumb about 47-1000 times today and wanted to throw the tools, but he didn’t and got it done.

Tomorrow’s work will depend on the weather, but so far it isn’t looking too good.

Now, on to the question. Does anyone have any recommendations for someone that does roofing? We got the tar paper up (ohh that’s what we did yesterday!), but we need the shingles out on and we have run out of time before Jon goes back to work on Monday.

If you do, please let us know. Thanks so much and if the rain holds out we should see y’all at the farmers market tomorrow. 😘😘

Notice how this picture is taken from inside the jeep?

Well there’s a good reason for that. Jon kicked me off the job site for a few days. I was getting pretty burned on my face, even though I’d been doing everything short of wearing a mask while working.

I say all that to explain why I don’t have more pictures! I haven’t been out there since Sunday.

Today Jon is finishing up the last section of fascia, doing the inside roof beam bracing board things, then starting on the roof sheathing.

I’m not allowed to work outside anymore until my face is less swollen and red. 🤨

I will sneak out later to get more pictures of today’s progress!!

We’ve officially added blood to the “blood sweat and tears” portion of our build. I’m convinced it didn’t happen sooner because I keep Jon safe. Lol

Still missing the tears portion, but tbh, just give me a week or two!

I warned yall it would be an early quit day yesterday and I was right. The plan was to stop at 11 or when we ran out of wood. Well, we ran out at 10:46!

Today we’re at the doctors office for Jon, not for the scratch…just general check up stuff. Then we’re off to Home Depot to acquire more wood.

Tomorrow morning we’ll be at the Killen Farmers Market then back to work on the store once we get home.

See y’all later, and if you’ve read this far, feel free to honk if you drive by and see us out there working!!

Look what today brings!! Jon took a few pictures for me yesterday cause I was about dead, but then he didn’t send them to me!! Apparently we saved all the “pain in the butt” cuts for yesterday so it literally took us about 12 hours of work to get the roof for the porch framed in!!

I wanted to quit. Jon wanted to quit. We didn’t quit. Today we’re working until we run out of wood, or 11am, whichever happens first!

We’ve got until July 26 to get the beast water tight before Jon goes back to work. So send us all your best construction vibes.

We’ll keep you updated!
