We said goodbye to Helen this afternoon.

We could tell last night that she was slowing down. I checked on her early this morning and she’d found a sheltered spot and was tucked in. Not interested in food or water. I checked on her again a while later and found that she had died.

We will miss her. And we are so glad for the long and happy life she lived here on our little homestead.

Egg update! We are making a slight change to how we handle our extra eggs each week. Up until now, we had been offering delivery or meetup in Missoula on occasion. Due to changes in our family’s schedule, we will only be offering eggs for farm pickup from now on.

If you are new here, some info about our eggs: Our hens spend their days free ranging on a portion of our property that our kids have affectionately named “chicken land”. We feed our chickens a Montana grown, organic, non-GMO feed that is free of corn, soy, and canola. We also offer organic fruit and veggie food scraps. Their eggs are delicious, beautiful (so many colors!), and nutritious. They are unwashed and unrefrigerated (unless otherwise requested), so they can be stored on the counter at room temperature. We currently offer them for $5/dozen.

Our routine is to post on our stories every Monday, letting people know how many dozen eggs we have available for the week. People then message us to claim however many they’d like, FCFS. We are considering moving from that system to a list of weekly/biweekly regulars. So - stay tuned for that if you’d be interested in signing up. For now, continue to watch for our Monday egg announcement and send us a message if you’d like to come pick some up.

Thank you all for your support and for choosing fresh, healthy, local food for your families. It is such a joy to see our eggs feeding our friends and neighbors. We appreciate you!

What a difference six hours can make! We woke up this morning to four inches of snow burying the garden. Now it has all melted off and we are back to blue skies and sunshine. Springtime in Montana!
