🤎🐴 PLEASE HELP US WELCOME RUSTY TO THE REFUGE! 🐴🤎

Today, we are opening our hearts and our sanctuary to a very special boy named Rusty. ❤️

Rusty is a 20-year-old Quarter Horse who is completely blind. His journey to The Refuge Horse Rescue and Sanctuary is one marked by tragedy, loss, and circumstances that were through no fault of his own. Rusty survived a tragic incident that took his original owners, and now he finds himself needing a safe place to call home.

We will
Never understand the evil that took his original family that loved him so greatly but, we know one thing for certain: he deserves to spend his days surrounded by kindness, patience, safety, and love. 🏡💕

Being blind doesn’t make Rusty any less deserving of a beautiful life. It simply means he will need a little extra understanding, a gentle touch, and people willing to meet him where he is.

At The Refuge, we believe every horse has a story worth honoring, and every life deserves compassion. We are grateful that Rusty’s next chapter can begin here, where he will be given the opportunity to feel safe, find his footing, and know that he is loved.

🐴 A Little Update from The Refuge Horse Rescue & Sanctuary ❤️

We’re sorry it’s been a little while since you’ve heard from us. We know many of you follow along with the horses and care deeply about what’s happening here at The Refuge, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding.

We’ve been taking some time behind the scenes to work through a restructure of The Refuge and make sure we’re moving forward in the best possible way for the horses, our supporters, and the future of the sanctuary.

Sometimes, doing what’s right means taking a step back, reassessing, and putting the right pieces in place. That’s what we’ve been doing.

We’re not going anywhere. ❤️ The horses remain at the heart of everything we do, and we’re excited about what the future holds for The Refuge.

We're excited to announce that Alley Crowe is now offering horse riding lessons at The Refuge, with a primary focus on Barrel Racing!

With many years of experience in training and riding, Alley is passionate about helping riders of all skill levels build confidence, improve their horsemanship, and develop their barrel racing skills in a fun, supportive environment.

We have been chasing this feed every week because it seems to not be kept in stock. Tractor supply in Byram has ordered us 10 bags so that we can try to get ahead and not be chasing. If you would like to sponsor a bag or donate some to this cause we would greatly appreciate it. We go through roughly 6 bags a week for the Horses that need senior feed.
