We have some HEARTBREAKING news that Ryon & his family have asked us to share. Donna, Ryon's mother passed away yesterday. He is sad, to say the least, but did want to let people know. She was a friend to many and she will be sorely missed. For now, we are planning to celebrate her birthday here, on Monday, June 15th. It is what she would have wanted (opposed to a formal funeral service). If you are available that day to swing by, both Ryon and his Father would love to see you!
Read Donna's obituary here:

Donna Lee Hogge
June 15, 1962 – June 4, 2026

Donna Lee Hogge, 63, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on June 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service to others.

Donna is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Ryon Hogge; her two beloved sons, Michael Ryon Hogge II and Matthew Hogge; her daughter-in-law, Karla Hogge; and her cherished grandchildren, London and Judah Hogge. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, George W Hogge IV, his wife Bonnie, and their children, Quint and Lindsay. Donna was preceded in death by her mother Betty Ward, her two brothers, Chris and Robert Dennis.

Donna enjoyed the best of both worlds, making her home among the beautiful mountains of Westcliffe, Colorado, and spending time at her home in Carolina Beach. She found joy in the beauty of God’s creation and delighted in the simple wonders of plants, trees, flowers, and gardens.

A dedicated educator, Donna devoted her life to helping children. She began her career at the Cumberland County Special Needs Center before transitioning to teaching third grade in the Harnett County public school system. She also served in disadvantaged schools, where her compassion extended far beyond the classroom. Donna often provided school supplies, backpacks, lunch money, and encouragement to children in need. She saw potential in every child and worked tirelessly to help them succeed. Her kindness was evident in the many parents who hoped their children would have the privilege of being in her classroom.

Donna’s generous spirit touched countless lives. She was known for her willingness to help others, whether that meant caring for her students, rescuing Great Danes, or simply offering a listening ear and a helping hand. She loved deeply and gave freely.

One of Donna’s greatest joys was her family. She shared a special bond with her first granddaughter, London, nurturing her creativity through books, crafts, projects, and countless hours spent learning and creating together. The gifts of imagination, curiosity, and love of learning that Donna passed on will continue to live on through her family.

Donna will be remembered for her caring heart, her dedication to children, her love of animals and nature, and the profound impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will endure for generations to come.

“Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come, ‘Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
And Grace will lead me home”
-Amazing Grace

May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
