Several people have expressed an interest in "shareholding" another heritage hog for butcher in the late fall or early winter. Here's the proposal:
You can buy into a half hog, sharing the expense of the hog, it's feed, and it's slaughter price. These will be pasture raised but without rain they will have to be supplemented with grain. I will feed milk and whey as it becomes available out of my milk room along with produce deals I find along the way. I will do all the leg work from purchase to feed to slaughter. My payment will be a share whose expense will be absorbed by the other shareholders. I need a $125 deposit per share which will include the purchase price of the hog and the first $50 in grain purchase. If and when more grain is needed, you will be billed in advance.
Heritage feeder hogs can be difficult to locate and the ones I've found have proven themselves as great quality pork. I'll need your commitments by next Monday. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask right here. We might answer someone elses questions also.
Thanks! I'm looking foward to some great fun, shareholder bonding, and most of all, some really delicious pork.
