Just a quick reminder that our Date Night on the Farm scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support.

Even though we won’t be spending the evening together here at Crooked Mountain, we hope you still find a way to take a break, get away for a little while, and do something special with someone you love. Sometimes we all need a reason to slow down and enjoy the people and places around us.

Thank you again for understanding, and we hope to see you at Crooked Mountain another time soon. 🌻

Flower farming is kind of crazy.

You start the year in March, standing in what basically looks like an empty field, trying to picture what you want it to look like months from now.

You plan where everything is going to go, figure out what you want to grow, order seeds, work the ground…and wait.

Then May comes, and you start planting.

And from that point on, it feels like you’re constantly trying to keep something alive.

You plant.
You water.
You w**d.
You watch the weather.

Then June and July show up with the heat, and you spend a whole lot of time wondering if any of this is actually going to work.

And then, almost all at once…it does.

For a few weeks, the whole field comes alive.

The sunflowers bloom.
The zinnias and cosmos fill in.
The bees are everywhere.
The birds start showing up.

People come out and pick flowers. They take pictures. They make bouquets. They walk around the field and smile.

And for those few weeks, you look around and think…

Yep. That was worth it.

But flowers don’t last forever.

Eventually the blooms start to fade.

The bees get what they need.
The birds get their share of the seeds.
We harvest what we can.

And then one day, you climb on the tractor…

…and in a few hours, something you spent months growing is gone.

The sunflowers are brush hogged.

The flowers disappear.

And before you know it, that field is just a flat, grassy piece of ground again.

It’s a strange feeling.

You’re tired.
You’re a little sad to see it go.
You’re proud of what you grew.

And hopefully, somewhere along the way, you made a few people happy.

Then you look at that empty field…

…and start thinking about what you’re going to plant there next year.

That’s flower farming.

🌻 THE FINAL WEEKS OF FLOWER SEASON ARE HERE! 🌻

We’re heading into the final stretch of You-Pick season at Crooked Mountain, and we’ve made a few changes at the Flower Bar!

Our Mason jars are officially SOLD OUT, so we’ve reduced the price on our remaining tins:

🌸 Small Tin — NOW $20 (regularly $25)
🌼 Large Tin — NOW $30 (regularly $40)

And while one sunflower field has officially finished its run and has already been taken down, another sunflower field is just starting to bloom in its place! 🌻

Our late bloomers have finally decided it’s their time to shine, too. The zinnias are coming in full and strong, the cosmos are blooming, and there’s still plenty of color around the farm.

💐 Haven’t picked flowers at Crooked Mountain yet? Your time is running out!

We’ll be closing the You-Pick flower fields for the season in just a few weeks, so come fill a tin, wander through the flowers, and enjoy the fields while you still can.

And keep an eye out — Crooked Mountain may be popping up at a few other locations with flowers and bouquets before the season is over! 👀🌻

Our flower season may be winding down, but camping isn’t! The Crooked Mountain campground will remain open through October 31 this year.

🌻 WEEKEND UPDATE FROM CROOKED MOUNTAIN

Just a quick heads-up that Crooked Mountain will be closed this weekend, August 14–16. The campground, store, and flower fields will all be closed.

But you can still find a little Crooked Mountain in Floyd on Saturday! 🌻🎨

Christy will be set up at the Maker’s Market from 9 AM–2 PM with fresh sunflower bouquets, her paintings, and more.

Stop by and see her while you’re in town!

We’re pretty proud to be part of this one…..

Floyd County brought home an incredible 42 honors in the 2026 Best of the Blue Ridge Awards!

Crooked Mountain was honored with Silver for Best Camp or Glamp, tied with FloydFest, and the Crooked Road Ramble – Floyd on 2 Wheels motorcycle route earned Bronze! 🏕️🏍️

That second one is especially cool for us. We love helping people experience Floyd on two wheels, and the Crooked Road Ramble is one of the routes we’re proud to share with riders visiting our little corner of the Blue Ridge.

But the bigger story is Floyd. Forty-two honors says a whole lot about the businesses, artists, outdoor recreation, music, food, people, and places that make this community what it is.

We’ve made a few updates to the remainder of our 2026 season—but Adventure is still happening at Crooked Mountain!

❌ Crooked Junction Adventure Rally at Crooked Mountain – Cancelled

The Crooked Junction Rally at Crooked Mountain has been postponed; however, Gearhead Junction will still be hosting a gathering at their location 14-16 August. We encourage everyone to support them!

❌ Date Night on the Farm – Love in Full Bloom – Cancelled

🌻 Our Self-Serve You-Pick Flower Bar will remain open through August 31, wrapping up another wonderful flower season.

🔨 Crooked Mountain will be closed August 14–16 while we complete repairs and maintenance projects around the property.

🏕️ Our final weekend for camping this season will be October 31, a little earlier than usual. If you’ve been thinking about a fall getaway, now is the perfect time to reserve your campsite.
