The weather has been amazing here in Floyd. 70's during day and 50's at night. Beautiful sunshine with a breeze.
Mama tree is looking very happy, a few flowers in bloom. The last photo is down by from gate. In just a years time the autumn olive has taken over the front gate area.
The birds sit up in the tree and p**p the seeds down. Some people think it's a great berry plant but honestly the plant will just take over areas and choke out the natives very quickly. Not a plant I want on this property.

I spent all day yesterday at the property. The cabin garden is smiling and Mama tree looks very happy. Planted two new blueberry bushes with comfrey, some walking onions, a gift from Tree Tiemeyer and a paw paw to replace dead one. A nice quiet, peaceful day.

Mother nature decided to take out her wrath on the ole Hillbilly barn during the last storm. I do believe we got some serious wind at the homestead. :( Thanks Katie Zimmerman for the heads up. We'll have to get Floyd Farm and Home Services to access the damage and see what salvageable.

Update: Linda decided to wait to rebuild until Paul retires and moves to floyd. That does not mean she will leave floyd. A ltitle place has been rented and she moves down in November to stay full time. The homestead gardens will be tended as well as enjoying the beautiful sunsets. Nothing is permanent. Things always changing. Such is the way of things.

Starting to think about cabin #2. Same layout but maybe timber frame. Higher roof peak. Pull down ladder to the loft. Solar fan on roof. Solar panels for power. Will still have water barrels. Yellow pine floor.

Making a plant list to bring back from NH.

Moving forward.........🛠️

Like a good book, Life is full of chapters.
My Floyd cabin chapter has ended do to an unfortunate fire.
At age 70 I will now look forward to what the next chapter has in store for me. It will start back in NH to give me time to grieve my loses and to regroup. I then will find my way back to Floyd where my heart lies. Probably finding a room or small place to rent.
I have never been one to sit around feeling sorry for myself. Life is full of ups and downs and I've learned to excepting what is and make the best of it. On to new adentures.
My spirits and the universe will show me the way. Along with my wonderful family and friends.
"Eventually" there will be a little house on the Homestead that both Paul & I will share.
Stay tuned for more updates as they happen.
Warmly, Linda

I had a wonderful surprise yesterday morning. I was out at the work bench cutting wood for more kitchen shelves and was heading back inside when I saw this next to the cabin.

What I thought was one beautiful shiny black snake turned out to be a pair. Guess it's mating season.

They live under my cabin. Don't have to worry about mice or copperheads anywhere near with these guardians.

Harvested elder flowers. Saved the rest to harvest the berries later. Might make some elderberry jelly. My Grammy used to make it and we ate it on her homemade warm donuts. Sweet memories. I'll make pancakes with a couple flowers and dry the rest to put in my tea. They smell wonderful.

A few woodland treasures in the woods behind the cabin.
