Today we went on a field trip with our youngest, Willa Mae, to Sinkland Farms! 🎃🧡 We got to visit all our babies and see the cutest little Highland cow, Jagger, who belongs to our friends over at River Bottom Ranch. He is the cutest little guy! 🐮🥰

Our emus, turkeys, and chickens are doing so well! Hopefully all this socialization will help them get even more comfortable around people. It made my heart happy seeing them and getting to share the day with Willa Mae! ❤️

Stay tuned for our tortoise’s stall enclosure makeover! 🐢💚 These Virginia nights are getting chilly, so she needs to come inside where she can stay warm.

We’ve been digging and laying blocks to keep her from burrowing where we don’t want her to. I’m hoping the window light, along with a grow light, will help grass grow between the blocks. If that doesn’t work, I’ll grow trays for her to graze on throughout the winter after researching the safest options for her. 🌱

We’re also working toward something bigger that I hope will benefit our homestead, our family, and our community. It won’t be a fast project, but we’re taking it one step at a time and praying it all works out. ❤️

Found these little bumblebees sleeping in my asters this morning. 🐝💜 Apparently my flower beds are actual beds! 😂 Letting them snooze a little longer while I enjoy the little things on the homestead.

Five trays full of garden peppers in the dehydrator! 🌶️ Banana peppers, pepperoncinis, and bell peppers, plus some jalapeños I’ve already dried. Going to play around and try making my own seasoning blends using these and the herbs I’m still growing! No idea exactly what I’ll come up with, but that’s half the fun. 😂🌱

My new variegated String of Pearls came in the mail today from an Etsy shop, and I’m so excited! 🪴🤍 I’m hoping the colors get even more vibrant in the greenhouse, like my other plants have.

What really amazes me is how far my first String of Pearls has come. I bought one tiny start from a local vendor back in April, and now I’ve made multiple starts for other people AND have four or five more growing in different spots around the greenhouse. All from that one little plant! 🥹🌿 Etsy

Jesse and Woody are off on a fall adventure! 🧡 Our emus, along with Turkey Girl’s three handsome gobbler sons and her daughter, will be spending the fall season at Sinkland Farms! Turkey Girl stayed home with us at Williams Homestead. 🦃🍂
