We had the pleasure of sponsoring and hosting volunteers from the Floyd Center for the Arts as they gathered at The Spice Bar to put together spice packets for the Pinto Bean Mix that will be offered at the Living Traditions Festival this September!
Pinto beans have deep roots in Appalachian food traditions. By the early 1900s, they had become an affordable, filling staple throughout the mountains, often slow-cooked as the beloved “soup beans” served alongside cornbread.
We loved being a small part of helping keep those traditions alive and bringing our community together in the process. A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who helped pack, scoop, seal, and get everything ready!
We can’t wait to see these Pinto Bean Mixes at the Living Traditions Festival this September. 🌶️🫘
