Chestnuts, chestnuts, chestnuts! That is what our world has consisted of for the last three weeks. Last year and the year before the orchard gave us around 500 pounds each year. We anticipated 1000 pounds this year. Today we will cross the 1500 pound mark with no sign of slowing. At this rate, we will easily pass 2000 pounds. I will not sugarcoat it, it is kicking our butts. The Mrs and I have been working 10 to 12 hour days for the last three weeks. We are tired and at moments we are cranky, but I don’t think either of us would have it any other way. Two more weeks to go!

I can’t imagine the hen who laid this egg was having a good day afterward. It’s more than twice the size of a jumbo egg (70g+). Jumbo egg next to it for size comparison.
