An Exciting 2026 Louisiana Cup Day!
Louisiana Downs once again hosted Louisiana Cup Day on Saturday and the temperature in Bossier City was 100 degrees but the Clear Creek Stud Stallion, Star Guitar was hot also adding two new stakes winners to his record.
The Louisiana Cup Day Juvenile was easily won by Star of Bethlehem. Taking the lead from the start, Star of Bethlehem held the lead down the backstretch and when they turned for home I think everyone knew the race was over as Star of Bethlehem methodically widened his lead with almost every stride to finish with a nearly six length margin. Star of Bethlehem was bred by LTBA Secretary-Treasurer Roger Heitzmann III in partners with his father, Roger Heitzmann, Jr. and his brother Michael. Having previously finishing second in the D.S. “Shine Young” Futurity, Star of Bethlehem has now earned $83,600 for owners Dark Horse Investments and Kevin Delahoussaye and trainer Patrick Devereux.
Star Rock Star also set the pace in his race the Louisiana Cup Turf Classic, maintaining a one length advantage throughout most of the race but was challenged in the stretch and had to dig in to preserve the victory. Previously stakes placed in the Louisiana Futurity and earlier this year in the Au Revoir Stakes, Star Rock Star has now earned $213,867 and is owned by Anthony Lowrie and is trained by Shane Wilson.
Star Guitar has now sired twenty-five stakes winners and is on his was to another leading stallion in Louisiana this year. Star Guitar can be seen at Clear Creek Stud where he stood the 2026 season for a fee of $7,000 payable September 1st.
