Here’s a bull that brings serious muscle and performance, this time out of our Ransome 38J8 sire. He weaned off his dam at 742 lbs. in just 7 months, posting a 3.34 ADG. The last two years we have had a total of two red calves. A major disappointment when you prefer the reds, but to be expected when someone else prefers the blacks and the majority of our herd sires are homozygous black. But if you’re blessed, that someone will buy you a red bull to remediate the issue.

It may not be a dozen red roses, but this time next year I’ll have a dozen(ish) red calves for Mother’s Day.

We hope that your Mother’s Day is filled with love and appreciation… and if it’s your thing, a cow or two.

Some of you may not know that Brian and I do not have agricultural backgrounds, but when he came to me and said he wanted to get cows, there wasn’t much of a decision to be made or discussion to be had. We fenced in our property and bought the cows. The Gelbvieh bull and 17 Angus heifers in this picture, to be exact. It’s hard to believe that this was 10 years ago, the day they were delivered. The days, months, and seasons seem to be a blur. We have felt the pressures, sorrows, and rewards that come with being producers, but mostly we feel gratitude for being able to grow this operation into what it is now, for the ability to keep moving in the direction we’ve set our sights on, and for the amazing people we’ve met along the way who have taught us so much. I think I can speak for our whole family when I say we can’t imagine our lives any other way. If you have asked about our cattle, listened to us drone on about them, bought cattle from us, or rooted for us from afar… thank you for supporting this (not so little anymore) dream of ours. Here’s to many more years!

Bull pictured has SOLD!

N129 (SOLD) possesses a great balance of genotype and phenotype. Weaned at 7 months, this powerhouse weighed in at 772 lbs. with a 3.45 lb. ADG. During our feed test his ADG was 5lbs. with a 1,310 lb. weigh-in at BSE on April 2, 2026. Long, deep and thick, he has the structural integrity to keep him going all year. Gains paired with his carcass and maternal traits, you can’t go wrong with this well-rounded bull. N129 is hetero black and homo polled.

About a year ago, I made a post looking forward to the growth of these two calves. Progressing from mid-70s birth weights to approximately 1100 pounds, they have proven to be standouts among the bulls upon viewing by potential customers.
