As I am watching the goats play in the pasture, I am reminded of why we do what we do. Its about being self sufficient and living off of the land of course but its also about being great stewards with the lives God has trusted in our hands. Its about a give and take relationship with the animals we rely on. They cannot give us what we need if we are not giving them the love and care they need and deserve. By design, we were meant to be their caregivers, their shephards, their advocate, their voice. Our role in life is to give them the best life we can, regardless of their purpose. Seeing our lifestock thrive and enjoy their life, brings me so much joy and lets me know we are doing something right. This is how every animal deserves to be treated, regardless of their species or end purpose: with respect, love, empathy and the upmost care. As for our farm and our operation, we will always put our animals' needs first, giving them respect, love and care even on their last day here. Wether they will live out their entire life on green pastures or if they will be nourishment to our bodies and others, they deserve the very best and thats what they will recieve.

We've got a inteligent diva in the flock! This feisty chicken escapes the front gate every day to enjoy some solo me-time in the front yard. She's got a prime foraging spot, a favorite porch to relax on, and even a special terracotta chimney to lay her egg in. And when she's done, she sneaks back in to join the gang, before anyone notices her absence.
