If you have not already done so, you still have time to clean your mason bees! 🐝 We did an experiment this year with a purchased (big box store) mason bee house. The bamboo that is glued to the house is actually bad for your bees. You can clearly see the pocket of mites nestled between the males and females in the photo. A perfect place for them to take over your nest!! 💀 As each female emerges, she crawls through the mites and carries them to all of the tubes she inspects to lay her eggs, infesting your nest. It is necessary to extract your bees each year and provide new nesting material to keep a healthy colony and nest. 💕 For more information about mason bees, visit our website www.fatdogfarms.com

The great thing about plants, and gardening in general, is that they are not likely to spread a virus such as the flu or COVD19. Planting plants actually promotes good health in people and in the world as a whole. With the likelihood of us getting to spend more time at home this year, it will be an amazing spring season to get some much needed yard work done! The perfect opportunity to complete projects we all normally put off due to travelling, vacations, kids, school, other plans, etc. Also, kids out of school equals free labor, right?

Working in the safety of our own yards should have a positive impact on our health and our sanity as well!!! 😁
