Grand View Farm

Grand View Farm A regenerative, pasture based family farm providing an amazing customer experience, easy online ordering and convenient home delivery.

Grand View Farm is a pasture-based farm that is focused on organically grown, local food that is produced in a way that simultaneously heals the land. Our customers come out to enjoy the farm and purchase their beef, pork, chicken and eggs from our on-farm store. Our grass fed only cattle are rotated around the pastures followed by our egg layer chickens in a symbiotic, soil-building relationship

that mimics nature. The pigs inhabit the wooded areas and pastures of the farm, adding an important element to its multispeciated aspects. Rotated like the cattle and chickens, these pigs lightly disturb the woodland floor, trim the brush and fertilize the ground. The broiler chickens are in floor-less "chicken tractors" that are lined up across the pastures and moved daily to a fresh patch of grass. The broilers arrive on the farm as day-old peeps, live their lives outdoors in clean, healthy environments until they are culled here on the farm.

No-till planting perennial grasses directly into our pastures. We let the cattle eat down the annual ryegrass lower than normal so that we can get it planted with a new perennial mix and get a good stand. The cattle sure loved the entertainment. We are planting a mix of Orchard grass, fescue, rye, chicory, and clover about seven or eight different seeds all at one time. This will give us the diverse pasture that we need to finish Cattle on grass. We’ll take more videos as the grass grows and show you the finished product as we bring the cattle back around for the next rotation.

Rotating cattle on pasture! Quick video from Nick while we move cattle to their new paddock for the day. These cattle will graze here for 24 hours then move to the next spot. This is how we raise 100% grass-fed beef on regenerative pastures.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of April’s passing last Monday, April 13, after a long and courageous battle.

April came into our lives in 2012 as a weekly regular in the Farm Store. Who knew that by the time we said goodbye 14 years later, she would be family.

After many years of supporting the farm as a customer, she started volunteering to help with animal chores on the weekends. She fell in love with the farm and our animals, and we fell in love with her contagious optimism, unwavering loyalty, and beautiful example of how to live life to the fullest.

Thankfully, there are countless pictures and videos of her time on the farm, many of which she took herself during sunrise and sunset chores. She was incredibly supportive of the work we do here and deeply believed it is the future of American agriculture.

There is too much to say about April for this simple newsletter to do her justice, and her passing is still too recent for us to fully overcome the grief we all feel and write a long story of her time with us. Instead, our team and family have written notes to her in hopes of expressing our sincere gratitude for the time we shared and the profound loss we feel in her absence.

We will share those notes with you today, and we have also created a dedicated page on our website that will serve as a continuing memorial, with notes, pictures, and videos that will be added for years to come. I also invite you to reply to this email with a note to April, or to our team, that we can post to the memorial page.

Reed installing fencing with both of his Granddads. It doesn’t get much better than this for a farm boy. We’d give a lot to have one more day like this with our Grandfathers. Living in the moment on the farm this weekend.

As we head into spring, we’re working to balance inventory across the farm and our freezers — which means you get to save.

Select 4- and 8-packs are now up to 20% off.

These aren’t “clearance” cuts. They’re staples we simply have more of than we’d like heading into the next production cycle. Ranch steaks, pork chops, sausages, spare ribs, chicken wings, bone broth, and more.

When you stock up this month, you’re helping us create balance on the farm — and filling your freezer at a better value.

It’s a win for everyone.
