Stop and appreciate the poinsettia with me tonight. It is so marvelously designed and so easy to overlook! Out of the 30 million sold each holiday season, I wonder how many buyers have taken the time to admire its beauty? I mean, it is so easy to see this stunner simply as the tried-and-true Menards plant. However, this flower should be seen as royalty! The velvety red flowers are actually leaves of the same form as the green leaves of the shrub. The red (or pink/white) parts are actually bracts. How does Creator God (Jesus!... Hebrews 1:2) program this plant to turn the last leaves of the stem velvety red?! I hope from now on you will marvel with me over Queen Poinsettia. The poinsettia is a symbol of Hope and Rebirth that will surely add to your Advent celebration. As we celebrate the incarnation of Jesus this Advent, what a treasure to also think about Jesus laying the foundation of the world and creating flowers on the 3rd day of creation.
