Ever wonder when and why traditional teapots are shaped the way they are today? Teapots didn’t exist until the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), Prior to that time, ground powdered tea was used and whisked into hot water, often in a bowl. But the teapot as we know it may have been designed for Oolong tea which was not ground. With its delicate leaves, it needed to be brewed in a pot. The round shape allowed the leaves to open up, releasing their flavor and the tip of the spout was placed higher than the water level to prevent leaks and allow the liquid tea to be poured with a minimum of leaves. The teapot also allowed tea to be shared with others as a part of hospitality for guests. Our Gohobi's hand-painted floral teapot, crafted from ceramic and bamboo, is on sale.

As the days shorten and the air is cooler, sleeping through the night comes easier. A cup of caffeine-free tea before bed can help. We have three pack of teas designed to do this. The package includes our Sweet Dreams, a blend of peppermint with lemon peel and ginger root, Nightfall, a blend of chamomile, peppermint, fennel, orange, lavender and rose petals, and Mediterranean Chamomile with chamomile, orange peel, and hibiscus. They are also available separately. Chamomile contains an antioxidant called apigenin that can help to calm a racing mind while peppermint can reduce physical tension and help to relax your muscles.
