🧬✨ Exciting things are happening at Blue Skye Farmette! ✨🧬

One of the biggest evolutions happening here on the farm is adding in-house DNA s*xing!

For so long, raising Silkies has meant a whole lot of waiting…and waiting…and maybe waiting a little longer 😂 before finally knowing whether those adorable fluffy babies are pullets or cockerels.

Now, I am taking the next step.
🧬🐥

By adding DNA testing right here on the farm, I will be able to determine s*x much earlier and have a much clearer picture of exactly what I have available — rather than relying on guesses or waiting months for our little fluff balls to finally reveal their secrets.

This is still a process of learning. Researching, purchasing equipment, setting up the testing process, practicing each step — Seeing it all finally come together is SO exciting!

For me, this isn’t just about adding something new. It’s about continuing to grow Blue Skye Farmette and finding better ways to serve the people who choose birds from this little farm. 💙💙

Stay tuned…those little Silkie secrets aren’t going to stay secret nearly as long anymore. 😉🐥

I haven’t posted in a while, and I am sorry for it. But life happens, and I know you all understand exactly what I mean. And even though I haven’t posted, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been caring for animals, growing the farmette, upgrading, changing, planning, and all the things. People have still visited me, and I have still loved showing off all the beautiful things to see here (even in this punishing Texas summer heat)! Babies are still hatching (it never really ends here 🙄😜). New animals have joined the family. A minimum of 9,000 photos have been taken. There have been lots & lots of snuggles. There has been joy, and there has been sadness. And now that we are all caught up, here are a few fun pics from the last little while 😉
