Okay. I know it’s been a while, but a lot has changed in the last year, and we had to take some time to recalibrate and figure out how all this stuff fit into our new crazy schedules. Turns out it didn’t much. So when we started last year with too many birds (once again), I was immediately too busy with our feathered friends and new adventures in life to even think about a garden.
By the end of last year we knew we needed to make a decision about what really worked for us and what didn’t. So, we decided to step away from the poultry game in favor of a vegetable garden. Like…a day before became $12 a dozen. 🤦♀️
But it’s fine. We’re fine. Everything’s fine.

This year’s garden is an exercise in restraint. Did I want to plant every square inch of soil? Absolutely. And even though an annoying little part of me kept saying “maybe it’ll keep the weeds down,” I knew I needed to plant a manageable amount of that we will actually use. Plus some to freeze/can for winter. Plus a little to share. And maybe one or two items that are just for funzies. 😬
It helped to plant lots of vining plants that will absolutely need that empty space. Whether or not I went overboard with the remains to be seen, but I consider it a healthy coping mechanism, so I went full tilt and bordered almost the entire garden with them. 🌻
With all this in mind, I present to you the newly humbled 2025 :
I have a good feeling about the . 🍉
