I will be voting yes on 83.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned through all of this is just how much people don’t know about hunting and fishing in Colorado, how these activities are regulated, and the important role they play in our state.
There seem to be a lot of misconceptions, unanswered questions, and misunderstandings about what hunting and fishing actually look like. The regulation, the units, the seasons..... some think as hunters we just go hunt whenever we want, wherever we want and whatever we want and that couldn't be further from the truth.
My biggest encouragement to anyone who has questions is simple: Talk to someone you know who hunts or fishes. Someone you trust to give you an informed, honest answer based on firsthand experience.
Ask them why they do it. Ask them how it works. Ask them about the regulations, conservation efforts, and responsibilities that come with it. But also ask them what it means to them personally.
Because for so many people, hunting and fishing are much more than recreational activities or occasional pastimes. They are a way of life, a connection to the land, a source of food for their families, and traditions passed down through generations.
You don't have to hunt or fish yourself to appreciate how deeply meaningful these traditions are to others.
Before forming an opinion, take the time to understand. Sometimes the most valuable education comes from having a genuine conversation with someone who lives it.
