Faithful Friends Homestead

Faithful Friends Homestead FFHK is a small 2 acre farm in Northwest Ohio. We have homemade goods for sale as well.

We are striving to become more self sufficient and live off our property by growing our own produce, raising chickens and ducks for eggs, and other animals for meat.

Some may say I’m a “glutton for punishment “…but I like to describe myself as a hard worker, determined, creative, and motivated….
Does my arm hurt….yes. But thankfully I had help, so I wasn’t on my own to get this started.

Luke and Wyatt are my dirt movers, and after this last round of storms, some of the dirt in our planted rows washed away. So, at the recommendation of Luke, we are putting some boxes around the rows to retain dirt and help avoid washout.

4 done…..SSSOOOO many left to go….

Took advantage of the warm weather yesterday, before the storm, and got some seeds in the dirt ….but man, it was still really windy!!!

Doesn’t everyone plant peas in 50 mph wind gusts 😂
Regardless, I was able to get 560 pea seeds planted. Here’s to praying for a plentiful crop!!!

It’s that time!!!!! I got my tomato and pepper seeds started and under the lights.Grow baby, grow!!!!

Happy New Year, everyone!!!!

It was a crazy end of the year for our family…and part of that craziness leads to me having to have surgery later this month….

I have had a chance to get some other indoor projects done… I have the garden planned out for this year, made a list of projects that I hope to accomplish this year, and got some crocheting projects done…

Luke has been baking bread here and there, and has experimented with spelt flour, which turned out pretty well.

Here is to a new year, and new blessings!!!!
God bless you all!!

GREEN BEANS!!!!

I picked green beans this morning.
I debated putting any out in the produce stand, as I had to discard a lot of beans last year because they stayed in the produce stand too long.
Things just a small fraction on what I picked today (as I have 18 rows planted). Please take some 😁

Trying something new in the produce stand this year. Hopefully it’s well received and utilized, but we’ll see 😊

My herb and tea gardens are doing great this year, so I thought I’d see if y’all wanted in on it.

I have packaged up some lemon balm tea, mint tea, lavender, and some parsley.

I will continue to add more fresh produce as it becomes ready.

Here’s a recap of the past two weeks thus far….

It took me a week and a half, but I got the porch railing stained, and we absolutely LOVE it!!! Our house looks absolutely nothing like it did when we bought it!! Still need some finishing touches on the porch, but we love it!!!

As for the produce side of things….the garlic is dried out and in storage for use, onions were picked today and are drying out, zucchinis are slow coming, but I’ve picked some, I harvested 2 cabbages, and am drying out a LOT of basil I picked yesterday.

Oh my gosh…..yesterday was so HOT!!! But, I had to take advantage of Wyatt and Luke’s help, and we got the tomato cages up, and got the posts and fencing up for my cucumbers, just incase my cucumbers do decide to grow this year 😑 . Luke and I also got some big branches out of one of our trees, which should allow more sun in the garden.

And I finally got some zucchini out of the garden!!!! Beans are starting to flower, so those will be ready before i know it!!
