This is the side of ranching no one talks about. That no one shows. This is the part that makes even the strongest of us shed a tear and our hearts heavy. My day started this way. Double wide went into labor at 2:30. By 3:50 this calf was on the ground but was born sleeping 💔. A calf we’ve waited so long for. The vet thought twins but that was not the case. Just one angel baby. Poor momma is beside herself and desperately tried to wake her baby for hours. We tried to help her but she was more aggressive than she’s ever been and man grief will do that. Calving season is beautiful and it’s our favorite time of year. But it’s never short of heartbreaks. This was not the way we had hoped to start our day. And not the way we had hoped our first calf with double wide would go.

A beautiful hibelt baby girl!
Presley did a wonderful job and this little one is a spitting image of her momma just a lot more fluffy.
So I introduce you to Pricilla to keep the Elvis theme like her momma thriving. This little girl will be available one weaned.

After a wonderful suggestion from Dawn Marie Hrnjak Percy because she was born may first, I proudly introduce you to Maybel. She is a spunky happy beautiful little gem.

This is how my morning started at 4:14am

Tis the season of the ginger I reckon since this is the 3rd red calf we’ve had out of 6. Baby and momma are doing good. Little one is kind of chilly so placed a heat lamp just to give a little extra warmth while it gets dried off since Colorado is nipply this morning.

Will post more pictures when baby is dried off, and when I know the s*x.

His momma was not happy with him last night because he thought it was time to play with his neighbors jade and bullet at 2:45am so he had the zoomies, needless to say his momma told him off 😂 she was very vocal about what he was doing.

This little guy was born this afternoon.
Daddy is our miniature black highland bull Juno, and his momma is our resident black baldie cow Boo (doesn’t necessarily fit our breeding program anymore but she’s got a forever home here because she’s an OG long haul cow).

Drop those name suggestions for this little guy. He is cute. He is fuzzy and he is black as the night.

TRIGGER WARNING: live birth

Tonight Caroline (formerly Kenzer) FINALLY gave us her baby. We figured she would calve right after the auction honestly. She is such a good momma. So everyone meet Bullet, he is GORGEOUS. I’ll post more photos tomorrow once he’s all dried off and fluffy. But he sure looks silver to me. Eventually this boy will be up for grabs so make sure you’re following me to keep getting updates.
