Whatever our kids don’t eat our birds will! 🤣 tonight they got Mac and cheese, green beans, and chicken fries 😂 does anyone else feel bad feeding their chickens some chicken? They don’t care, but it feels wrong to me lol.

It is with broken hearts that we announce the loss of Benny, he was the newest addition to the sanctuary and came to us with illness and we were working hard to get him back to 100% so he could be around other chickens again but God had other plans for him and he crossed the Rainbow Bridge in my arms. We find peace knowing he’s free and happy and healthy, and that we will see him again one day. Thank you so very much to Alejandra Gonzales for giving us the chance to love your sweet boy and for allowing us to try and help him get better, he knew nothing but love from you and us! 🙏🏻💙🐓 also thank you for these beautiful illustrations you made of Benny 🌈🤍

We have had Benny for almost 4 days now and he’s been the sweetest little guy! We still have him in a cage in our house to keep a closer eye on him due to him being unwell, but with antibiotics and anti inflammatory medications he’s perked right up and is even crowing again! He’s also on a spray for one of his eyes as he has a clogged duct but it’s quickly clearing up as well. Overall he’s doing great and we are all smitten with him already! 😂💙🐓

We are so excited to introduce the newest member of The Rooster Sanctuary at Monk Farms, Benny! 🥰

Benny is a sweet little bantam rooster with the gentlest personality and has already made such a big mark on our hearts!

Benny came to us because he's currently feeling under the weather, so for now he's resting comfortably in his own crate where he can receive the care and attention he needs. As soon as he's healed and ready, he'll be free to roam the sanctuary and mingle with all of his new feathered friends. ❤️

Please keep Benny in your thoughts as he recovers. We can't wait to watch him regain his strength and enjoy the happy place here at The Rooster Sanctuary at Monk Farms.

To our Rooster Sanctuary at Monk Farms family,

This is one of the hardest announcements we've had to make.

After much thought, we've made the heartbreaking decision to permanently downsize our flock. Moving forward, Rooster Sanctuary at Monk Farms will only be raising and breeding our Royal Palm Turkeys, Spanish Black Turkeys, Indian Runner Ducks, our beloved rescue roosters, and a small handful of our female chickens.

While this is a difficult change, we want everyone to know that we will continue breeding these wonderful birds and will still be offering hatching eggs and fresh eating eggs.

We want to extend our deepest thanks to every single person who has supported Rooster Sanctuary at Monk Farms since we started in 2024. Whether you've purchased birds or eggs, shared our posts, recommended us to friends, adopted or sponsored a rooster, or simply followed along on our journey, you've helped make our dream a reality. We are forever grateful for the love you've shown our animals and our sanctuary.

We also have another big announcement: Rooster Sanctuary at Monk Farms is moving! Our sanctuary and farm will now be located in the large backyard of our new home. For the safety and privacy of our family and animals, we will not be posting our new address publicly. Instead, we'll provide it individually to customers who are coming to pick up birds or eggs.

Although this chapter looks a little different than we originally imagined, we're hopeful for what lies ahead. We sincerely hope you'll continue supporting Rooster Sanctuary at Monk Farms as we begin this new chapter, and we look forward to welcoming both returning supporters and new faces in the future.

We wanted to share an update with everyone.
Earlier today, a tornado came through our area and caused significant damage to our rooster sanctuary and farm. Several of our chicken coops and pens were blown apart, and multiple chicken sheds were knocked over by the storm.
The most important thing is that ALL of our animals are safe. We are incredibly grateful to report that there were no fatalities and no animals were lost during the storm.
As we focus on cleanup, repairs, and making sure all of our birds remain comfortable and secure, we will not be able to accept any new roosters for the next week. We need this time to rebuild and get everything back in order before taking in additional animals.
We appreciate your patience, understanding, and support as we work through the damage. We will post updates as repairs progress and let everyone know when we are able to resume accepting roosters.

It was a sad night for our Rooster Sanctuary, our Barnyard Protecter Adolf passed away suddenly yesterday evening, he went to nap under his favorite tree and just didn’t wake back up 💔 we called him the barnyard protector because he was the one who kept guard, he did perimeter checks every hour and was always shadowing the hens and other roosters to make sure nobody was in danger. Once he even got a hawk that tried to take babies from one of our mama hens, he made sure all the babies were safe. A few weeks ago he hurt his foot jumping off his roost and began limping, we took him to the vet a week later and they said he had developed an infection from where he got hurt so we were giving him all his meds and extra love and he was back to his normal self again just a few days ago. We don’t know if his death was related to that or not but he had no signs of trauma, no signs of any bites, and he didn’t have access to anything poisonous, and he was also only 2 years old so not old age. The rest of the roosters are grieving him, they saw him before we buried him so they would know he was gone and not just wonder where he went. We hope he’s having a blast crossing over the rainbow bridge with unlimited friends and treats 💙🌈
