Dear God, thank you for another day that you keep me humble. My darling girlfriend Tanisha just called EnJay‘s, to place her lunch order. 🙌🏽
Jerk Pork -Ready ( but she nuh eat dat).
Curry Chicken-Almost ready, Oxtail -Ready!!
Oxtail it is!
Order placed. ETA 10 mins.
Now, Last time she praised the fact that her food was ready upon arrival, 💯 I shall not let that praise be tainted by her having to tap her finger and wait today, so Yes, I put a pep in my step because…. No sah!!!
Anyhoooo…. today, Dear God, I was (once again 😳) reminded of the amazing amount of work You have DONE, but still needs to be done within me.
I’m finishing up packaging the food for Tanisha, when my phone rings. I have on my gloves, (glove & phone shall NOT meet in my kitchen), so I tell Siri to answer my watch. It’s Tanisha.
My friend sounds, shall we say different????
Anxious?
Confused?
Breathless?? Has she been running?? Nah…probably not.
The sound is muffled, whether it’s the chaos that is ensuing in her car, or the fact that she’s coming through my watch, I cannot tell, but I hear the word lizard 🦎 in fact, I think that is the only word she is saying on Swift repeat.
She proceeds to tell me about the Jurassic Park that is outside in a hyper-speed, high-pitched voice that finally disintegrates into screaming & inaudible sounds.. WAIT ONE MINUTE!!! She’s screaming? Fighting for her life?? as in Did something just change?
Is she being attacked by somebody outside in my car park? 🏃🏾♀️ 🥊
I ripped the gloves off & head for my back door. 🚪
Tanisha‘s car is in the middle of the car park, cockeyed. Not straight, not in a space, just there… in the middle.
Her window is cracked and I can hear her screaming 50 feet away. The only audible word is lizard 🦎 🐉 🦎
It is at this point that I was shamefully reminded, I still fight. Oh yeah. It was about to be hands on sight, & asking for forgiveness later. My adrenaline begins to drain away & I began to laugh. Thank you Lord. It’s just the lizards.
As I approach her car, she sees safety approaching, but continues to scream hysterically!! Like, every lizard is now running for its life, because what is that sound ???? 👀💥
I stepped out into a parking space and with gentle guidance, directed her forward, into a parking spot. 🙌🏽
Then, in what sounded like an accusatory, on the verge of disaster, Teeter- tottering on the cliff of breaking down into tears, she said why didn’t you bring my food out? 😂😂😂
Girl, I came out here to FIGHT not to FEED. I was ready to lay hands, (not in the biblical way, that I wish it had been).
I then proceeded to coax her out of the car, which was tantamount to encouraging a scared child to pet a snarling, growling dog.
By the way, it’s hot 🥵 out here. I’m sweating down my back, down my face, off my chin, Everywhere!! legs, arms, everything sweating. This Triggerrrred my menopausal flashes in 0.5 seconds.
Clinging to my arm, I lead her back to my kitchen, ring her out & she just stands there looking at me. 👀 😳 Then holding her head down, (I think that was shame), she mumbles something about, “you know you’re walking me back out now, right?” 🤭😳
Girl what????
So I go in my kitchen, turn off my ‘Almost Ready’ curry chicken, to es**rt her back to the safety of her car.
There was NOT ONE sign of my customary hugs goodbye, No “I love you sis”, no gratitude at all.
She SPRINTED the few steps, like the car park asphalt was molten lava 🌋, jumped in her vehicle and peeled out of the car park, with (what may have been) a wave.
Now I’m sweating, trying to regain my internal temperature balance. 🌡️
Talking to God about these hands 👋🏽 that were so quick to wanna lay themselves on someone.
God, Thankyou for continuing to work on me. Please work on my friend Tanisha, she needs help too .
Your child
Nat.
