The Lavender Patch Farm

The Lavender Patch Farm The Lavender Patch... It has begun... the first lavender plant was given to Erlinda in California, as were the dream seeds to start this endeavor.

The first set of lavender plants were bought in Kansas in 2010 where the lavender patch dream will be fulfilled. This is a project brought together by the Daryl & Erlinda Reichard and Davin & Betsy Reichard families, bonding two states, two families together in strength, courage, perseverance, and prayer. These are the qualities that have been used throughout these last couple of years and will co

ntinue over many more. As our dream has become reality, we begin the next phase at The Lavender Patch. We will have a variety of lavender plants, grown for oils, crafts, and/or culinary use. A distiller will be used to get the essential oils from the plants. Eventually, we will have a gift shop and sell some of our products made here at the farm. This will include lotions, soaps, candles, essential oils, etc. We will host workshops and teach the art of making lavender wands, wreaths, etc. Lavender bundles will be sold, picked by us, or you may pick your own! Enjoy a walk through the fields, relax amongst the plants, take in the aroma, and enjoy a unique outing at The Lavender Patch!

Spring is in the Air! 🌿🔥
The Lavender Patch Farm has been a busy place this Spring! We’ve been working hard to prep the grounds, including burning the areas around the lavender fields and pastures to make way for new growth.

Teamwork makes the dream work:
🚜 Davin has been out on the mower.
✂️ I, Betsy, have been busy trimming the lavender plants and I finished up this morning before going to the 2nd church service—it’s always such a relief to check that off the list!

A note on the plants: Most of the lavender is looking great, but a few plants are looking a bit "questionable" right now. If you're growing your own, don't panic! It’s completely normal for them to wake up from dormancy at different times. They often look a little rough or even dead this time of year, but give them some time and (hopefully!) that beautiful green will, or already has, started to show up.

As for your own lavender plants, it is time for you to trim them. Once you see the new green, trim the plant into a rounded shape by cutting back the stems by one-third. Just ensure you stay within the leafy green growth and avoid cutting into the bare, woody base.

Next up: the never-ending job of weeding and cleaning up the winter leaves and grasses. The season is officially moving!

We think the Easter Bunny might have been scouting out his favorite hiding spots early! 🐰💜 We spotted this little friend enjoying the shade of our lavender plants last summer and couldn't help but share. It’s a beautiful reminder that new life and spring growth are finally here. 🌷✨

As we celebrate new beginnings this weekend, we’re feeling so grateful for the beauty of the changing seasons here at The Lavender Patch Farm. There’s something so peaceful about the farm this time of year—watching the lavender wake up from dormancy as they prepare for their summer show, the trees budding, and the spring flowers beginning to bloom. 🪻 ✨

Wishing you and your family a blessed Easter filled with peace and new beginnings.
Happy Easter, everyone! 🐰🌷 "
