This is Esme, too, although she prefers the term ‘la dueña’ which means ‘the Queen’ in Spanish. She’s from Douglas and she’s our professional grader. She grades out any leftover shell and bad pecans from the line. On a good day, she can grade up to 500 pounds an hour unless Ashlee comes in for a Spanish lesson and holds up progress. She’s worked with us for 6 years now. While we’re not sure if Esme increases productivity, what we do know is that we couldn’t run without her. Unlike the other Esme, this one puts a smile on our face and while we pay her by the hour, to us...she’s priceless.

This is Esme. If you look closely, you’ll see her name in blue cursive across the side. She’s from China and she’s our color-sorter. She’s used to grade out bits of shell & bad pecans from the line. On a good day, she can grade up to 5,000 pounds an hour. She was long anticipated and she’s been with us only four months now. Esme increases productivity and cuts our cost per pound. Good thing, because she cost a mint.
