First, this may be a long post to let you all know what is going on around here with Harris Family Farm , not AI generated, but authentically me (Kim) and transparent.
We have been providing beginner riding lessons for the community since 2016. We poured our heart and soul into each and every rider and horse we brought on to accomplish the task. We also started doing cowboy mounted shooting and have shared our love of the sport by helping others get started. Throughout all of that, I have also been homeschooling my kids and discipling them to know and love Jesus as this is the most important to us.
The last 5 years however, I have felt God calling me to hang up my lesson hat and to do more to lead others to Jesus and to walk with them on their journey. Being not only stubborn, but having feelings of inadequacy, I did not listen and continued to do things my way. The last two years have been very rough on us. God has definitely closed doors but he has opened new ones for me to walk through. With lots of prayer and guidance I have finally decided to be obedient to what God is calling me to do and I am working on going on staff with FCA Fellowship of Christian Athletes to start an Equestrian Ministry here in Middle Georgia. I have been pretty quiet about the journey I am on because, well, this first part is hard. In order to go on staff I personally have to raise the funds for the ministry. I have to go out and find people willing to partner with me financially to get this off the ground. This is definitely not something I am very good at. I've been allowing God to do a work on me and I have absolutely stepped out of my comfort zone and all to his glory the ministry is 55% funded. It is truly a testament to His faithfulness.
So this post is opening up about what we are doing and what is to come. We are going to be closing one chapter but opening another. Another I feel very strongly about and is absolutely personal to me. For much of my life, I was not looking for God. By the time I left college, I had become an atheist because the world around me had convinced me that there was no God, that faith and science were incompatible, and that I could find truth without Him. But while I walked away from God, He did not walk away from me. He was quietly doing a work in my heart and overtime He began to draw me near to Him. Eventually, I came to know the truth of who He is and what He had done for me through Jesus and now I have the incredible privilege of watching God use the very thing he placed in my life - Family and Horses - to help reach others for His Kingdom.
We will still be sharing our love of cowboy mounted shooting but we will be closing the doors to providing riding instruction using our horses here at the farm to give our all in the FCA-Equestrian Ministry that is going to launch very soon.
If this post moves you and you feel God calling you to become a part of this ministry through financial support you can partner with me in two ways, monthly giving or a one time gift. Every penny given goes to support the FCA Equestrian - Flint River region. To give, simply click the link below in the comments (FB would not allow me to add it to the post itself) and it will take you directly to the FCA-Equestrian giving page. You can also send a check if that is more to your liking. I also welcome you to contact me directly if you have any questions or ideas for the ministry.
I am truly honored and excited to meet people where they are, to use horses to build authentic relationships and most importantly, point people to Jesus and walk with them on their journey.
